Pal Mickey Batteries

I'm going to buy my first Pal Mickey when I'm in WDW next month. I'd like to buy some rechargeable batteries ahead of time. Can anyone tell me what size batteries the Pal Mickey takes?

AA! I can't remember if he uses 2 or 3 though. I think 2.
As with every toy in the world right now you need a screwdriver to get to the battery compartment.

my daughters pal mickey has opperated on the same batteries for a year we are changing them before our trip this year even though they have shown no signs of wearing out

My Pal Mickey lasted on the included batteries through two seperate weeks at Disney. But on our last day he began to laugh and shake. And when we squeezed him to hear what he had to say... he just kept shaking! Mickey wouldn't stop having seizures till we opened him up and turned him off. And this happened several times that day (when we tried turning him back home.) My best guess is it's because his batteries were dying. I don't know, but I wouldn't expect you to need new batteries unless you're there for a really long time. Hope you have a great (Mickey-seizure free) vacation!

Yes, he was running low on juice. That happened to me on my Sept2004 trip and I freaked out because my Pal is rather priceless to me having enjoyed so many wonderful memories with him. I ran to the closest store and was directed to the store that could reset him (tell him which park he was in at the time) and they changed his batteries for me (at the cost of a package of batteries). I typically carry spare batteries just in case and that day I hadn't moved them from my luggage to fanny pak yet (just arrived in). If it were to happen again I'd just change his batteries and then see if he needed to be reset.

Now I've had mine almost 2 years now and I think I've only changed his batteries twice. He's been to Disney 3 times now and I think the 1st time I changed his batteries were before his January 2004 trip. He's been on the same batteries since September and he was at Disney in January 2005 for almost a week. you'll kinda remember when you change batteries because it's no picnic! *lol* I think he might be due for a change shortly and I'm dreading it.

Have fun with your new Pal!!! Mine's is going on a 5K tomorrrow with me and a friend along with her Pal. We're all sort of training for the 1/2 Marathon which I think means even though we'll be getting the new Pals we'll also be taking these 2 special (older) mice with us. Hey if they're training too then they deserve the trip down too :-D Hope you get as attached to yours as we are to ours.

Pal Mickey uses 3 AA batteries. You can also open the battery door with a small coin like a nickel if you happen to be without a screwdriver.

Using 3 rechargeable AA batteries should work although I have never tried it. You should know that rechargeable batteries are actually lower voltage (1.2V instead of the 1.5V of a normal alkaline or lithium battery. Most toys connect the batteries in series so the voltages add up. Three standard alkaline batteries in series add up to 4.5V. Whereas 3 rechargeable batteries will only add up to 3.6V. As long as the device can operate on the lower voltage, you should be OK.

I knew that engineering degree would come in handy sometime on this message board.
