Pal Mickey ~ $8 DVC Discount

I don't know if this has been mentioned before and the search function is down so I can't check easily. Here's a head's up to those families who want to buy a Pal Mickey when staying at a DVC resort. At the BCV general store we were able to apply the value of our special free DVC 1 day rental ($8) to the purchase of a Pal Mickey. We received the free rental coupon in our check-in packet. I was going to buy the little guy anyway and saving $8 was icing on the cake .

I am glad that it worked for you--we were there in June and the CMs in the store at the time would not let me use the $8 toward the purchase I even asked them about renting it and then purchasing it at the end of the day. The CM told me that if I did that they would just keep my $50 deposit. I think they might have just started selling PM there--DH said he went down later to buy it and encountered some other people having problems with the same CMs when they were trying to purchase PM.

Thank you for the info on Pal Mickey. We will going for our first stay at BCV in a few weeks and my DD (age 9) heard about Pal Mickey. She is convinced that she wants to buy it. Is it worth the purchase? Do you know if they plan to upgrade it for new attractions etc.. Also, can you use it on the Disney cruise?

Sorry about all the questions - I just want to be armed before the shopping begins!!!!

We were there at the beginning of July and had the option of putting the $8.00 towards the PM.

It worked out pretty well, I was not sure we wanted to buy PM, (more to carry) so we went down to the store around 9:30pm to use the free rental coupon. Since you usually need to have it back by 12:00pm I asked if we could have it the whole next day and then bring it back at 12pm the day after. The CM said that would not be a problem, they put the $50 dollar deposit on the room and then would credit it back if we decided not to buy.

Well needless to say we decided to buy, I had a much fun as the kids. When we went back they take the one they gave you and give you back a brand new one, then she credited my account for the 8.00 free rental fee, so it was only 42.00 instead of the $50.00

My only suggestion, when going into the parks early-especially MK the music is loud there and if he is on your belt loop etc you will not be able to hear what he is saying. We ended up hooking to the backpack.

Also I did find out that there will be updates, whenever you go thru the turnstiles the info is downloaded. One day we actually was on a bus with a man and his family from CA, he was a designer of PM and did alot of the dialoge stuff.

When we were at MK, PM reminded us that there was going to be a show in front of the Palace in 30minutes... very cool

When we were at OKW in June, I wanted to use the coupon for the day. MyDH and 2 teens refused to go in with me to get PM, all thought it was stupid. The CM gave me a short demo, and I decided I would buy PM use him for the day, then give him to my nephews for a gift. When I got him to the car, my teens fell in love with him, and decided the 1 and 3 years old cousins would not be getting PM for a gift, we would keep him, and that was while we were still in the car, and hadn't even gotten to the park and heard all of his helpful hints. I am going back to WDW this weekend, and plan on getting another PM to give to my nephews for their first trip to WDW, maybe it will get their dad going. Everyone who loves WDW, will love PM.
