Any budget ideas for painting a basement? Concrete walls and floors, never painted previously, 3 year old house, no water leak issues. Types of paint, how to measure to see how much paint to use , and best place to get the best deal on paint for the basement.

I'm not an expert, but I'd start with a moisture sealer/blocker. I don't know the manufacturer, but it goes on like paint and then you can paint over it. It will help your basement from smelling funny when you but absorbant materials down there.

For the floor I'd use an epoxy paint. Our concrete floor had previously been painted then tiles over...twice. Once we got all the tile adhesive off we used the rust-olium one step expoxy. It does look nice, was budget-friendly and overall we are fine with the outcome. However, we have discovered there is a two step epoxy that is a higher quality. You paint on the color and sprinkle in the flakes then let it dry. Next you paint on an epoxy seal coat. It is much more durable and nicer looking than the one step. I would use the 2 step if I had to do it again.

HTH! :thumbsup2
