The first shirt I squirted the mickey head on was gloppy. The bottle would get a little clump stuck in the nozzle, I would squeeze hard and glop. I saw one like this on another thread, though, so I figured it would be fine.
I cut the tip of the bottle bigger, and it worked a lot better.
I have really long nails, and found they worked great to "erase" a glob I got on one shirt by mistake, just scrape off the wet flour paste. A craft stick would probably work too. I just free handed the mickey heads, didn't have a pattern to trace, I don't think you need one for this project.
After they dried, and it took hours....I sprayed them with regular tulip tie dyes, I just put them in an old perfume spray bottle. So, I didn't use REAL fabric spray paints, adapted to make my own spray tie dye. I should have done this on the grass....spraying is messy.
Another tip, when spraying, wear gloves on both hands. I thought I would just need it on the spray bottle hand, and got somewhat dyed on my hands. Oh well! Also, the shirts got some drips of dye on them from the glove being too long and as I sprayed , I kept getting it on the glove, it would build up and drip. I rather liked the effect, but I am into free-form!
So, now the shirts are done, and just need to dry.
It didn't take long for the spray to dry, I let them in the sun for an hour. Then, I squeezed the shirts to crack all the flour lines, and peeled them off. Here is the finished set!
Since I used regular tie dye, I soaked/rinsed the shirts out in the tub, then ran them through the washer. I don't know if you would need to do that if you had the prepared spray fabric paint. I am happy with the results!
