Paint - What brand??

Nope - my google search doesn't indicate that Kelly Moore and Benjamin Moore are the same. Guess the name is just a coincidence.

We actually have 2 friends who are professional painters...different companies...and they always use Benjamin Moore. It's more expensive, but they claim it is worth it, and so we have always used it and had good luck with it.

Secondarily they have used Dutch Boy, which they say is OK, but they prefer Benjamin Moore.

I'll be the oddball here but i have only used WalMart paint. I painted a whole living room a pretty yellow with only one coat (I used a darker shade on the fireplace wall) and did not prime. It turned out really nice and held up well. A couple years ago I painted a wall in my DS's room a dark Turquoise or Sea Green, took 2 coats, again no primer and it was a satin finish and it was really, very durable. I have used their paint for furniture and always have had good luck. I forgot, I did paint a wall using the two color, double roller tecknique blending the two colors using WalMart paint. This also worked beautifully. I'm getting ready to paint some walls in my new townhome and will again use WalMart paint. :)

LOVE Behr! I have done sooooo much painting in the past few years and Behr covers the walls beautifully and they have so many gorgeous colors. In fact, I just painted my library last night--with Behr paint in a wonderful blue color called Provence.

I had a handyman come to my house to find out how much it would cost to paint my son's bedroom. In the process, I told him I would pick up the paint and he asked what brand of paint I would use. I had always bought Behr hearing that it was the best to work with. When I said "Behr", he cringed and asked me if I wouldn't mind buying Benjamin Moore instead. He told me that in his experience, the coverage is much better. Behr seems to soak into the walls and need more coats.
Turns out the guy fell on ice and he is unable to paint our room so that will be my Spring Break project. I'm going to use his suggestion and buy Benjamin Moore. I hope he's right about it being easier to paint with.

I am not a professional painter but I have done a LOT of painting. I have used pretty much every brand of paint out there and my preference is Benjamin Moore. BM does not drip like other paints and it does not splatter as much with a roller. As for coverage, no paint covers well, when switching colors, with one coat. Every paint looks better with two coats.

Walmart paint is less expensive, but it is thinner and drips more and tends to need an extra coat. Behr is good and for the price is probably the best one on the market after BM. It does drip some though. Valspar has GREAT coverage--we painted our old kitchen brick red and were almost able to leave it with just one coat. It was VERY drippy though.

If you have an ACE Hardware store near you, their store brand of paint is good too, an inexpensive.

For me it comes down to the drip factor with paint and BM does not drip (when applied to the wall if you put on a little too much it doesn't run down the wall). It gives you a nice smooth finish and holds up very well.

I've been using BM paint pretty much exclusively. But, although it was a dream to put on my living room walls, and I did use two coats, it doesn't seem to be doing well a few years down the road. It almost looks as if the wall has been contracting and then expanding and the paint hasn't done the same. I know that I covered the entire wall, with no bare spots, but I have some now.
I have to do my kitchen and my brother suggested using Behr...says he did his entire house in it 10 years ago, and it has worn really well. In fact he is getting ready to repaint and will be using Behr again. Now, to just get movtivated and get the wall paper down, the walls prepped and the red paint on those kitchen walls!!!

Benjamin Moore or Behr. I've used both and have been happy with both. I can't tell a huge difference in either. Overall, I think I prefer Benjamin Moore but the 2 rooms I've use Behr for have come out well.

I did use the American Traditions line from Lowe's once and that stuff was horrible!!!

I'm going to be painting and wanted some opinions. I've used Sherwin-Williams paint for years. Never been disappointed coverage etc have been fine.

Consumer Reports just rated house paint and Sherwin-Williams rates at the bottom. Wondering if I should switch brands but it's hard to change habits.

I love Sherwin Williams Cashmere paint! It is the best streak free stuff out there. I have been known to stray every now and then (because a color will pop out at me) and try some other brand but I always end up re-painting with S-W!

DH always uses Benjamin Moore. We painted almost three years ago, and it looks like brand new. Every scuff, mark, etc. comes off with either a microfiber cloth or a magic eraser.

Definitely Benjamin Moore. I've used Behr paint before and don't like it all. As others have indicated, I thought it was watery and didn't cover as well as the BM.

I've also used Ralph Lauren suede paint. The color and finish look great but its a very tedious process.

We had used Dutch Boy a number of times but used Kilz recently because Walmart didn't have enough DB cans. DH said he'll be using Kilz for indoor painting from now on because it was so much easier to use, plus the fumes didn't seem nearly as bad.

Now we're about to tackle the exterior painting :scared1: & will be using Behr for that. They offer an exterior paint with the primer already in it, plus a lifetime warranty. Not to mention, they had a 3 color scheme in one of their booklets that was exactly what I wanted, which made it easier for me to submit it all to our HOA. :rotfl:
