Paint the Night Parade coming to WDW?

Rumor now is that MSEP will close at WDW on 10th September. To be replaced with Paint the Night as soon as they can get it over from DL. Then WDW parade replaced with a new one for the 50th anniversary in 2021.

I remember now that @Accident also suggested this was a possible over a month ago on the Rumors subforum.
Wanted to give kudos where they are due (of course, the Paint the Night part remains a rumour to date)

Thank you professor. In my youth (before metric?) we referred to triple metre as 3/4 time and duple metre as double or 2/4 time. For the musically challenged, 3/4 time is sometimes referred to as waltz time.

No PTN is still said to stay at DL but yes MSEP is said to close the 10th.

PTN would not need any refurbishment work, as it is virtually brand new. So Oct 1st would be a plausible date. You're right, nothing has been announced apart from anniversary merch.

PTN is said to get a refurb after is closes in September so it will be fresh for when it returns for the holiday season at DL.

Looking more into the MSEP rumor, it seems as though it is just not going to be performing nightly. It is listed for the 19th for example, but very few other dates.

Well, if the plan is to bring it out for holidays maybe they add in some holiday themed elements for Halloween and then Christmas?

Hadn't thought of that! Holiday overlays would be a nice addition to PTN

Will be sad to see MSEP go, but it is getting old and looking a bit worse-for-wear! Hopefully they'll make a replacement in the near future!

I'm sure there are things that could be tuned up for PTN already.

Nothing would immediately replace MSEP. It's not something that's specifically bringing in crowds. It's a cost cutting measure.

I missed MSEP when it left the first time. I missed Spectro when it left. I'll miss MSEP when it leaves this time too. I'm looking forward to whatever Disney brings us next.

I'm doubting that PTN could be simply transferred to WDW. No, not impossible. But its not just a simple thing of backing up the moving truck and unloading the floats. They need to make sure that everything will fit along the parade route. Sensors on the float units and in the parade route all work properly. The lights along the parade route need to be programed to match that of the floats and synchronized with the music.

All that while the various parties (MNSSHP & MVMCP) are keeping the MK open late for many of the nights in the last third of the year. Between a busy MK, and no need on WDW's part for another night parade during that time and I doubt we would see a MSEP successor until next year. Also can't see WDW bringing the new parade during the slow January to early-February time period either. So, I'd expect spring time for the debut of a new night time parade.

According to WDW News Today, Disney has confirmed that MSEP will be closing at Magic Kingdom October 9th and moving to Disneyland for a "limited engagement." They also say Disney has confirmed that PTN will be staying at Disneyland and be used on a seasonal basis. So that leaves Magic Kingdom without a parade for the moment.

It makes sense, but we were hoping to see MSEP on our upcoming Nov. trip.

What surprises me is that they only recently started offering the Tony's Dining Pkg. for reserved MSEP viewing.
I hope they notify the guests that booked the Pkg for after Oct. 9th!!

The MSEP was a favorite of ours, so it's a bummer.
Also, with the absence of the 20-year run of the Osborne Spectacle of Dancing Lights,
a lot of the Holiday Magic is lost for us!!

Now I am especially glad that we took the plunge, and bought MVMCP tickets.

There was a question posted to the Disney blog/post announcing this about the Tony's package and they said they would notify people impacted

It is odd that they just added that packed and cited to popularity of the parade as a reason - and then get rid of the parade

Also, the cynical part of me thinks Disney will hope more people will be like you and have this be another motivating factor to buy tickets to MVMCP: "hey folks, we know that some of you are disappointed that MSEP is no longer being offered but we are excited to tell you that there is a way to create new memories with a nighttime parade at the Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party! ..... For a small fee of course"
