On the new Navigators that AnnMorin gave to Barb and Tony it looks like Paige Davis from Trading Spaces did one of the adult seminar things. Did anyone go to this??

She did a book signing. We didn't go. She was in our group for the Anguilla Dolphin Swim though. Her husband is very nice.

Hmmmm, I was raised to "speak only when you have something nice to say", but in this case will do otherwise. (I see my good friend Ann is taking the high road on this one, but since disneyfamilyoffour asked directly, I will answer directly.) I feel that celebrities must go into the business knowing that being in the spotlight comes with the territory. They are paid at a much higher scale than the rest of us "small people", and therefore really are compensated for dealing with fans, publicity and what not. I didn't wait for an autograph, however one of our tablemates did and she waited an hour and a half!! I saw Paige several times, coming and going, and once even held the door for her when we passed at the same time. I guess I was not worthy of a thank you, or even a smile. She waltzed through with an air and attitude that showed she thought very highly of herself, and didn't even glance my way. Who knows, maybe she really is a lovely person, but that is not the side I saw.
Did anyone else on our cruise think otherwise?

Welcome Home DeeAnn!!

Hmmm was Ms. Davis nice??/
Welll............. her husband was a riot, very pleasent guy! ;)

Ann my dear,
I really think you should post the real version of your trip report of swimming with the dolphins, and this time leave NOTHING out!!! Our friends on this board deserve the truth!

BTW,
I miss you already!! Come to Vegas!!

I miss you too!! Don't tempt me or maybe we will show up on Feb. or April vacation... if southwest has a sale you never know :)

I think folks would be more interested in my trip report of British pub night ;)

Oh yes....the British Pub night was definitely a highlight of our trip!! ::yes::
ps....February or April will be just fine!

That is really a shame about Paige Davis. Chuck Wagner (Beast on Broadway and in Toronto over 2000 performances) was on my cruise in Sept 2003 and was the nicest guy - very personable and gracious...signed as many autographs as you wanted. Even asked if I wanted pictures with him. He probably wasn't as recognizable as Paige but then what does she expect with all the air time she gets now on TLC. Her husband was involved in B&B on Broadway as well but I can't remember in what capacity, that is where she met him.

Chuck also did two Adult enrichment programs (one mostly a performance and the other was advise to those wanted to get into the business). He is currently teaching at a college/university in Florida in the drama department. Yes, he was on vacation but he was also very personable every time we saw him.

I was on the 12/13 cruise with Paige Davis, and I'm glad to hear that I wasn't the only one who felt that she was somewhat standoffish. I saw her in the bathroom on the first night and just said hi, and she looked at me like I was from outerspace and left immediately. I saw her multiple times throughout the cruise and sat next to her at a show. Never once did she say hi. So, I did not go to her book signing on purpose. The family we sat with at dinner went and waited 2 hours.

I really like her Trading Spaces show, though. I guess it's hard being famous. I thought her talk was really entertaining and that her husband (Lumierre in old Beauty and the Beast and now Scar in the Lion King) was amazing and nice.

We did not have the same reaction to Paige and Patrick that most posters here did.

If you like, read my trip reports and I have a summary that I am working on.

Maybe they just wanted to have a nice, relaxing vacation.

I was about to ask "WHO THE HECK is Paige Davis???" Then I saw the Trading Spaces and I think I know now. My first job out of college was at a very big NYC talent agency and I have always been so curious about celebrities with "attitude". In my experience it has been the lower level celebs (like Paige) that carry around a bunch of attitude. Now I have never met her but she sure does fit the profile! The REALLY big stars have learned to make an effort to be nice to people. Sure, they have bad moments and can be rude, but generally they realize that the avereage people buy the tickets to their movies.

Harrison Ford was a client and he was AMAZING. So was Dennie Quaid. It was the 80's so it's been awhile. I used to get the most attitude from new soap stars and semi-successful commercial actors! lol ( I was a lowly assistant)

When someone with a high public profile takes a public cruise they have to expect attention. Don't you think it would have done so much for her reputation if she had been nicer or more approachable? I know I appreciate and remain loyal to stars who are nice to me. Regis Philban was nice once in NYC at an event and I still remember it. And I NEVER miss a Dennis Quaid movie, cause that man was very kind.. What goes around ...comes around~!

I wouldn't have known who she was if she ran over me! DD did go to the book signing but neither DW or bothered.
I did see her one nite at RockingBarD...she was dancing on a chair... no I am not kidding :)

Even if a celebrity wanted to have a nice relaxing vacation, wouldn't it just be common courtesy to smile a thank you or say a simple thanks or hi to someone who had done something nice to them.
I would hope that as long as someone wasn't slobbering all over them they would be at least polite. But then I am not a celebrity so I guess I don't really know how I would react in their situation.
If you are a celebrity and you go on a cruise ship and mingle with other passengers, you have to expect to be recognized and have your vacation invaded to at least a small extent.

I was at her talk and book signing (thankfully I waited probably no more than 10-15 minutes for my autographs... Alex's daughter was with me and my daughter). I also attended her husband's talk earlier in the week. If I had to pick, I'd say her husband is the nicer of the two. She never appeared truly standoffish to me, but I had no personal dealings with her other than when we talked as she was signing my things. I did see her around several times during the week... once at bingo, of all things! I was kind of surprised at that. Also saw her at the 80s night party having a good time. Her husband just seemed a bit friendlier to others in general, the times that I saw them.

Paige played the French Maid BABETTE in B & B...not Belle.

I cannot believe that the three of us, Jim, Natalie and I, were the only three people on the ship that she was nice to the whole week.

And they, she and Patrick, were suppose to sign autographs until 5 and they were there long after 5.

I was just about to say the same thing basically... just because she wants a nice relaxing vacation doesn't mean she can't say "hi" back to someone who says it casually and isn't all over her wanting an autograph! It also doesn't mean she can't say "thanks" quickly to show respect & appreciation to someone who was kind enough to open the door for her. I wasn't there- but this doesn't sound like wanting a nice relaxing vacation- it sounds like someone is a little full of themselves.... and I'm not surprised. I like her- but sometimes even on her show she comes across that way. Perhaps it's not intentional at all- but she does seem a little full of herself at times. If you know what I mean....
