Just had to share - in May it will be 14 years since I graduated from college and we finally paid off my remaining student loan yesterday! It's hard to say I regret choosing an expensive private college when I met my DH there, but I will definitely encourage our girls to choose a more cost effective route.

It must be a good feeling to have that millstone lifted from around your neck. Congratulations! What are you doing to celebrate?

COnGrATs!!! GREAT NEWS!!!! Now to think what you'll do with that extra $$

I paid mine off at the end of November - such a good feeling! For me it was perfect timing since I got laid off in September! Now I'm paying off the last few months of my car payment with our tax return too! :wizard: $650 a month in bills gone! :woohoo:

:cool1:

Paid mine off four years ago and I know how amazingly awesome it is.

Sock that monthly money away for your next Dis trip, baby! :thumbsup2

Congrats to you! I have just under 26 years left on mine!

Contests!!! 25 1/2 years left for me.

My wife will be happy to hear I'm not the only one! Fortunately the interest rate is below the inflation rate, so I'll never pay it early.

YAY!!! YAY!!! YAY!!!

No one seemed to care when I paid off mine this past November, but then again I was the only one in my family to ever go to college (at least for more than a semester)! It only took me 5 1/2 years to pay it off (it would have taken 15 by their re-payment schedule) but I worked 2-4 jobs all through University just so I had the minimum amount of loans possible. Once again, no one around me seemed to realize what a feat that was either.

Congrats! I hope you celebrate by doing something special! I went out for dinner with my family and made myself a cake (and ate more than I should've but it was my cake darnnit!).
:banana::cool1::yay::woohoo::cheer2:

Congratulations :thumbsup2 I just paid mine off too last week :woohoo: I graduated in 2000, so it's been a long time coming. But it had such a low interest rate that we just left it along for so long.

Actually we're not doing anything to celebrate really, other than feeling great that it's finally gone! Now to put some more cash away for a rainy day I guess :)
