I'm a 1st timer sailing 8/18-22. I made my final payment to DU. What happens next?

My family will be on that cruise!! We are 2 adults, 16yo daughter and 13yo son. Right now we are pinpointing the excursions and spending some time shopping getting the "summer" things that we will need on the cruise. I bought an over the door shoe holder, but my daughter kind of "borrowed" it for her room. I told her we will need to empty it to take it on the cruise. I have never cruised with the kids before and I have never used the shoe holder before, but I think that it is a great idea.

Since we are avid boaters also, my husband is looking into some of the storage organizers that we could take on the cruise that may come in handy on the boat also.

Other than that, I am going to sit back and wait for the documents to arrive:)

Pre-book any excursions that you definitely want, keep reading the Cruise Board and think about the GREAT TIME you will have on your cruise! :)

Enjoy this time -- as half of the fun is in the planning! Start your packing list, think about your preferred ressie times for Palo and Spa Treatments, Look at the Navigators posted on personal websites to plan some of your 'don't miss' activities.
:D

Being as we are DVCers the minute I booked our Nov 30th cruise we were "paid in full".
I go to the disney store every month to get $100 in disney dollars to be used against our shipboard account.

We will also be on the August 18th cruise. The kids (DD 9 and DS 7) are getting really excited!!

We just had a family meeting last night to talk about the cruise and Disney World (we'll be at BWV the week before the cruise). The planning really is half the fun and I've found it helps to talk to the kids about what to expect.

See you on the Disney Wonder!

We're also going on this cruise with our kids - DD (11) and DS (8). It doesn't seem like there's much left to do, so I'm going to enjoy my summer and before you know it, it'll be time to go!

I made our family a countdown chain...you know those paper chains you use to make in school. Each chain like represents how many days are left and each link has one "to do" item on it or a special occasion if it occurs on that day or Disney trivia. My kids love tearing a link off each morning as we are awaiting our trip in September.

I love that chain idea, we are a little over thirty days away! COOL.

To those that have said to pre-book excursions - you can't do that until you receive your docs can you??? We are sailing 07/25 and I haven't received anything yet. Of course, it hasn't been too long since we paid in full....:smooth:

When you have paid in full, and are within the 60 day window you can reserve shore excursions. I reserved my shore excursions long before I got my docs.

We are also on the August 18th cruise. My DH, DD (14) and a friend for my daughter also. Counting down the days until we go.
I have started a list of things to buy for the cruise.
These boards have been so helpful in planning.
Thanks for all of the good tips.

Need to book now b/c you are in the 60 day window for the excursions that you KNOW that you want to do:p !

thanks for all the ideas. where can I find descriptions of the excursions?

If you are going on the western cruise there is a description at the beginning locked threads. If you are going on another disney cruise disney also has them available at their website. Good luck and have fun :p
