Paid Fast Passes???

Paying for Dream Fast Passes? boourns. Half the fun is getting them unexpectedly. Like we did, we visited Mickey's house in Disneyland, walk out and they hand us these:

So many times we were too late running to the person handing them out. It was so sweet getting them. I think it would be less fun paying for a Dream Fast Pass. :confused3

The dream fast passes were/are part of the Year of a Million Dreams promotion that will end 12-31-08. After then, no one will receive the dream fast passes like you received them. That's awesome that you were granted a dream tho! :thumbsup2

What are the other states?

I'm not sure what lisadr is referring to specifically, but all DVC members can get APs with the discount. It may be a reference to the APs originally being for FL residents only or something like that...APs are not longer restricted, although FL residents can get some cheaper ones with restrictions.

I did not know they were every restricted....maybe in the early years? :confused3 I know we have had our AP's off and on for the past 15-20years.

I'd like to know too? California for Disneyland? I would love to get an AP discount for Georgia.

I've considered buying into DVC through a resale at a minimum point level just to get the $100 off each AP.

First, howdy neighbor- I live in Cobb Co. too! :goodvibes

Second- even if buying resale, it wouldn't make sense to purchase DVC if your only interest was to obtain the discount. The maintenance fees are equal to the cost of an AP through AAA, on most of them.

My own memory may be faulty...that I will admit...but I thought the FL Resident pass came out first...otherwise I have no idea what was being referred to...

Nice to meet another Cobber on the boards - we are in East Cobb near Roswell.

My thought was, you can buy as few as 25 points on a resale. The maint is ~5.00 per point so that is ~125 per year. We have 5 in our household so we would get $500 off each time we bought an AP for the family. Using the points every 2-3 years for accommodations and buying new AP's every 30 months or so could somewhat justify the initial cash outlay for the 25 points. Obviously I have not convinced my wife of this :confused3 .

Currently we are buying a new AP about every 30 months. We will use it for 12 mths and then take about 18 months off before buying again. We have done this twice and plan to buy again this December.

I would HATE if this was only for Resort guests.

What about all the FL residents who get the annual passes? They pay a ton of money for the tickets alone, we paided well over 2,000 for out tickets, that is more that what some people pay at the resorts.

I say this should be available to people who stay on property and possibly FL residents to give them more incentive to go.

They also could attach a free dream fast pass to everyone who is a pass holder. That would make up for the closing of Pleasure Island.

Ok- this is kind of scaring me with the fast passes. I would absoluteley love to see how much Disney makes with this, how much money it loses, and how much it just has left over. Of course it is such a huge company and all the extra money goes to extra projects and stuff... movies, all that right? Well, im guessing that most people cant really afford fast passes right now. Only the bear necessities, and I dont even think that includes a Disney trip. I am curious on how they are going to work this out if it is true, and how exaclty they are going to do it.
Psh, I would rather them switch the name of it too. Dream fastpass? No thank you. It would be my dream to win one, but to have to pay with your own money? Not a good name I dont think...
That picture above of the Dream fast passes... so why are there those little cardboard things on the sides? It means you can only go on the attraction once, on the day right? Hmm... well I guess its better. I just always thought you can get in line for whatever you wanted as long as it was the day- probably in the park you got it in too.
I just really want to see how all this would work out. I probably wouldn't go to Disney until I knew it worked out alright, and see if they are keeping the payed ones, or getting rid of them entirely, or whatever they decide to do.

The Dream Fastpass was good for one FP admission for each of the FP attractions at that park for that day only. You would take the Dream FP to the CM, and they would break off the tab for that particular attraction. Note that some FP attractions may not be using FP that day, so you may not be able to use all of them. Dream Fastpasses are named because they are Dream prizes, and they go away Jan. 1st anyways.

I think the Birthday FPs (which you can opt for as part of the WWYC promotion if you already have a paid admission) will be pretty much the same.

Paid or resort-advantage FPs could also take a similar form, but its all guesses since all of this is just rumors and there is no real evidence that Disney is even thinking of implementing them, or removing the existing free FP system. I think removal of the existing system is more likely at Disneyland than WDW, but that is speculation.

I do think it is more of a possibibility at DisneyLand, truthfully I have never been there, but at Disney World's Midway Mania there are fast passes, and that is Disney's newest attraction in both parks so... it would be pretty dumb to waste money and time coming up with new FP things if they were to just take them down soon.

Well i for one certainly hope they keep the fastpass program thing going. I like it and if u can use it right it really does help u get on so many more rides.
