Question for you, oh airline maven.

In the past, when USAir has changed flight times on me, I have been able to get them to change my ticket and put me on a new flight.

I just received a notice from USAir that my Nov flight for my return flight from MCO to PHL has changed by 15 minutes. Now it is leaving 15 minutes earlier.

I would actually prefer to go later, and would have booked the later and available flight at the time if I had known. Do you think they will change our res if I called? Will I be wasting my breath? Any advice on how to approach it?

thanks.:jester:

actually since it is due to a schedule change they can make the change without penalty. call and ask them. and to tell you the truth there is another schedule change in october.........

BeverlyLynn,

Do you mean they are going to change the schedules again in October?

They are making me crazy.

yes there are schedule changes on a quarterly basis. jan/apr/jul/oct. during each change your flight oculd change as much as 50 times. or as little as once.

I am flying Delta in Nov. When exactly do they announce the changes in schedules?

Thanks, Faith

the carriers don't go around announcing the changes. I just know this from working them.
if your flight is affected by at least 15 min or more on either side or if they switch to smaller aircraft etc then they are to notify you by calling you or if necessary sending you a letter. (the letters apply to certain individuals)

Beverly: You mean Delta can change my flight time? That would really mess things up! What type of recourse do you have for that? Who gets the phone call and who gets the letter? How soon in advance to they tell you? I have a limo lined up to take us to the airport. We're flying in Oct. I noticed you said that is one time they change. I mean, I booked at those times because that's what I needed. Are they obligated to get you on another airline for the same price at that particular time?

Thanks for the info. Now I'm worried

if you are flying in oct then no you won't be part of the oct sched change. its best to call before you leave to check your flt info to see if it has changed. and yes they can change your times on your, your flt nbr and even the equipment that you are flying on. most of the people that get the letters are hearing imparied and also those that need braille. if your flight is changed 15 min or more in either direction then the airlines are to notify you of that.
say if you bought your tkt in jan for a nov flight time. you will have been subjected to some major changes and in the end it might just end up back at what you started out at. and thne again it might not. most peole are very accepting of the new shcedule as long as it isn't drastic in change. and then when they don't like it we just changed them to what they wanted. the nicer you are the more you get.

Thank you Beverly. I feel better about our flight now. I can see the change if you book 9 mos in advance, but 2 mos, I think they'd pretty much have that set. I understand nothing is guaranteed. So far, the flights both ways are not booked.

My flight from TPA to Phila was changed from 6:20 pm to 6:00 pm. I know it's only 20 min, but that's 20 minutes less in WDW. Anyway...US Air emailed me that a minor change had been made to my reservation & to call their 800 number. B/C I check the flights all the time, I already was aware of the change. My flight out of PHI was also moved from 8:00 to 7:55. No big deal....
