Packing

I just love packing my cases as I know time is getting closer I have started to pack the odd thing and I have 6 weeks (roughly)
When do you start to pack your cases?

I love getting stuff ready as well. We go 3 weeks on Wednesday and I have
started making lists of things to take and things to buy when we get there. Usually start putting stuff aside to pack about one week before we go

I start putting things out on the bed in one of the guest rooms about 3 weeks before we go. I'll probably start washing and ironing any days now and start to get things organised. I packing lists on the computer for every type of holiday, beach, cruise, city, WDW - so all I have to do is adjust individual items eg. my list for WDW says 6 sundresses so I'll just add which colours I want to take, depending on what I've bought recently!

I do exactly the same for DH and did the same when our children came with us. I also have a list of "other things" camera, video, address book etc.

We are leaving at 2 -3 am on a thursday and I will only pack on the Wednesday afternoon.

i'm always banned from getting the suitcases down from the loft till the weekend before! Otherwise, i would have them down 6 months before if it were my way!

We go in just under 3 weeks, I haven't started to pack yet but I have washed and ironed the clothes ready. I will pack bank holiday all being well ready to go on the thursday. I do have the cases in the bedroom ready though.

We normally pack the night before. I am paranoid that I will take something out and forget to put it back. We also make lists what to pack about 3-4 months before so we know what we have and what we need to buy. This time all our new holiday clothes are packed in the suitcase, but it will all come out to be re-ironed the weekend before and pack the remaining items the night before. I am so excited I cant wait to pack. Only 8 weeks and 6 days.

I pack the night before and take miminal amounts. I hit the shops the first day for the rest of my clothes

I am already putting things into a wardrobe for my holidays, we buy a bit of something every week and it keeps me focused.

I pack the night before, I have all the things already in the wardrobe and I pack from there, without the help of dbf, he isnt allowed in the room or I get side tracked, when I pack I am on a mission

If I've got room to keep a case out somewhere, I'll start putting things in it anytime from about 6 weeks ahead. Every time I think of something we need to take, I'll put it in.

I try to have only the clothes to pack on the last day, as everything else will have been gathered together over the weeks beforehand.

I'd love to be able to keep a case packed and ready all the time but I don't have the space! I keep a box of travel bits in my wardrobe with things like suitcase locks, straps, water-proof pouches, zip-lock bags, travel kettle, electrical adaptors, travel games, etc., etc all together so I hope I know where to find most of the things I'll need from one trip to the next.

I know what we're taking but still have not put anything apart from my bikini's into the suitcase.

Much more relaxed this time than last--I know that anything I forget can be purchased over there.

ive started to put bits and bobs aside already ive not long to go ( see countdown ) ages ago i got all the clothes out i wanted to take and matched everything up so i could see what else i needed to buy but then i put it back in the wardrobes again
yesterday i put the hangers over the doors so when the kids go back to school i can sort the clothes out properly....im too busy with uniforms just now

We go 3 weeks tomorrow to Caribbean Beach....We have only been once before an out boys cannot hardly remmber it so are so excited as we have hyped them up!!. I have yet to pack anything... I dont dare to get the cases out of the loft yet as I am hardly sleeping as it is with excitement so getting them down will make me even worse...packing to me is part of the holiday and I will get the kids involved...is that just me?? I am getting so excitied!!

I'm thinking Saturday....we leave monday. Althoough I do have a tote I put things I bout just for the trip in, so i can keep track of them...like sunblocl spray, detergent, glow necklaces. etc

As I'm still wearing some of my summer bits (with a fleece over the top seeing as it has gone a bit chilly) I won't be packing just yet or setting things aside. I will do though once my summer wardrobe is finished with. I won't pack them until a couple of days before but they will all be washed, ironed and set aside in my drawers, same for DS's clothes.DH though is another matter as I will have to pack for him the night before we go giving him advice on what to take etc! Men
We go in 7 weeks on Wednesday and I have my vanity case all packed with toiletries - anything to save room in the case for Disney goodies and I have packed DS's pull on case with sticker books, colouring and reading books and carry on essentials.

We go 4 weeks tomorrow and I've started putting toiletries, suncream, passports, dollars, first aid kit, etc into a holdall so I know where they are!
Won't put the clothes in until the weekend before though. It's difficult for us this time as we're off to cornwall and eden project for 4 nights, 2 weeks today, so we'll need some of our clothes for that - though probably not as many tshirts and shorts as I hoped with this weather!!!

I'm going in two weeks, but I made a suitcase itinerary about a month ago (very sad, I know).

I'll pack my suitcase about a week before I go, and my tolietries the night before.

I love the planning almost as much as the holiday!

We're going in about 4 weeks. I've started to think about any bits I need and will probably make a list this week so I can finalize what I need to buy. I had a bit of a look for sundresses (I want something light and cotton) yesterday but am currently panicking about buying a dress for my friend's wedding next Saturday so that's taking priority!

As for actually packing, I'll get the suitcases sat open about 2 weeks before we leave so they air out and get rid of that stale smell. I'll start ironing about then too and not re-wearing stuff I'm taking after it's washed. I'll do the actual packing about 2/3 days before we leave and stick the final bits (toothpaste etc) in on the morning just before we leave for the airport.

Reading all your comments is making me excited - and I'm not going this year. When we went in 2003 I made a huge list of everything I took. I found it again when we went in 2004 and was able to cross off lots of stuff so took less, making more room for the souvenirs that my two teenage daughters bought. My family think I'm mad and call me a control freak, but I have to know that I've got everything. Packing I do just the day before we go, working through my list.
