I just finished packing...phew!!!!! I purchased some spacesaver bags with the hope that I would be able to pack twice as much. I was dissapointed to discover that they did not save much more space than the 2 gallon ziplocks. Save your dollars for Disney!!!!

... when you need to compress garments that hold a lot of air, such as puffy ski jackets and knitted sweaters. For that, it is worth it to use the space bags, but thin summer-weight clothing does not hold much air in the first place, so you won't be able to crush very much out. The zippers on regular ziplocs will tend to open under the pressure of the garments' tendency to expand; the double zippers on space bags can handle it.

I use space bags to great advantage when I pack for winter travel in Europe. At this time of year, you can use them to put your sweaters away for the season.
