I just saw a commercial on tv for Space Bags and I really wish I could pack for my Disney trip with this! While I have a vacuum at home to fit as much as I wanted into my suitcase, I don't think I could find a vacuum at the resorts to pack for my trip back home and my suitcase would never shut!

Has anyone staying at the resorts ever used Space Bags and had access to a resort vacuum when packing to go home?

I guess I could pack a duffel bag in my suitcase and then put all my clothes in it and check that bag on the plane? I'm flying SW and they don't charge for bags. But if my duffel bag got lost, all my clothes would be gone....

They sell travel ones that do not require a vacuum. We use those when we travel.

I have heard of people on the boards who have borrowed a vacuum, but I have not personally.

I purchased space bag type bags at Walmart that do not need a vaccum. You sit on them and roll them. They work the same. We bought them 4 years ago and use them for each trip. They go down empty and come back full. I still cannot believe how much they will hold. We have the largest version and use two of them for the large suitcase. We have the medium ones for our smaller suitcases. They were money well spent.

I need to got to Walmart today.... never need an excuse! Where would they be in the store? By the Luggage?

I knew my fellow dis-ers would know the answers!:worship:

Keep in mind that while Southwest doesn't charge for checking luggage, they do charge $50 if the bag goes over 50 pounds. One of the problems with the space bags is that it is easy to go over the weight limit if you're adding more items than would normally fit in the bag.

i have never had good luck with the space bags. i end up getting more in the bag if i just pack tightly.

You can also use 1 gallon and 2 gallon ziplock bags. I pack each days outfit(including socks and underwear) in a bag. I then sit on the bag to get all the air out and zip. Our clothes are not wrinkled and it stays so organized in the hotel room. Plus it's easier getting the kids ready in the morning since everything is already together.

Love my travel space bags :thumbsup2
-no vacuum needed-
keeps everything together & I don't have to worry about something falling out if our bags have to be manually inspected....

I used the ones that didn't need a vaccuum. They only worked for about 3 trips though and then ripped.
Now I use ziploc bags. Much cheaper.

I also had to be extra careful that I didn't go over the weight limit. It's easy to do when you have that much more space in a suitcase.

When my kids were little, but old enough to dress themselves, I use to do this. It worked very well when on vacation and saved room.
I no longer pack each day in a zip lock but have the space bags adn think I may start using them for our trips. I forgot I had them, have had for eyars, so thank you to the OP.

My wife has the roll up kind.

We take our own pillows when we go on vacation. 2 pillows each times 4 people. That's 8 pillows. I was able to stuff 2 pillows in each bag (left 1 pillow each for the kids for use in the car) and the 3 space bags full of pillows (6 pillows total) took up probably just a bit more room than 1 pillow did in the back of the SUV.

, wow, that is a great

Note, to get them small enough (enough air pushed out) I did push all the air out, and then stacked them up (3 bags, 6 pillows) and....... sat on them for a bit.... :lmao:

This is what I did for our packing. Make sure clothes are folded neatly to prevent wrinkling...even though an iron is available in the room.

Thank you OP, I was going to ask a question similar to yours. We are going to WDW for 2 weeks in December and I cannot imagin what it will look like when we pack. We have only gone for 1 week at a time in all of our past trips and our car is packed full then. We are a family of 5, I do not plan to do much if any laundry while there, so I know I have to figure out what packing method to use and I too was worried about using the bags and no vaccum when we pack to go home. I will now have to look for ones that dont require a vaccum.
