For those of you who use ziploc bags for packing clothes, do you roll the clothes and place them in the bag or leave them flat? Do you roll the bag after the clothes are in them? Need to pack and not sure which way works the best.

THANKS!!!

I have never heard of using ziplock bags for packing.... can someone fill me in??

We tried using those big spacesaver bags one time and I did not find they saved us any room at all.

I don't know either:confused3 . I do use ziplocks for toiletries to prevent a mess in my luggage, for extra Tylenol in the park, etc... not clothes.

You can use the large 2 gallon bags in place of those more expensive space saver bags.
I fold up my clothes and lay them flat inside the bag, then seal it (leaving a very small opening to release air), then roll the bag to get all of the air out and close up the small opening.
If I'm doing this wrong, someone tell me ;) . I'm curious to hear if I roll the clothes first it will be better. :flower:

I read once where someone posted that she had 3 children and she took 21 bags (family was going to WDW for 7 days) and packed each bag with the clothes for that child (undies, socks, shirt & shorts) for each day. Then each morning she handed each child their bag. I guess it saved time, not having to pick out clothes for the kiddies each morning.

:earsgirl: :earsboy:

I put the clothing in roll the bag to get the air out but pack flat. I hope this helps.

I have 5 kids and I just got done doing this. We leave on the 27th   I packed up a days outfit (socks, undies, shirt, shorts) in one of the 2 gallon sized bags for 4 of the 5 kids. Oldest dd's is 11 and here things will not fit this way. It will make getting them ready in the morning much easier. Took a little more time packing but I thingk it will be well worth it. It has also saved space int he suitcases. Right now I have all 5 kids in 3 suitcases and we will be gone for 12 days!!! :earseek: I haven't packed myself or DH yet but we do plan on doing laundry there so I only excpet to have to pack up 2 more bags for us.
Only 8 more days till our land/sea/land wdw cruise trip!!!! :jumping1:

I was at WDW in December last year and packed the outfit flat in the bag then sealed, leaving a small gap, and squeezed out the air before fully sealing. I loved this tip, it made dressing my DS-6, DD-5 and DD-5months (at the time) so quick and easy and I will definitely be doing it again later this year when we return.

is it wierd that I've never even seen 2 gallon ziploc bags???? I've only found quart and gallon in my grocery stores. I was wondering how you fit clothes in those little bags.

I wish I was so organized as to pack outfits separately like that, but I like to mix and match once we get there and could never plan that much out in advance, LOL!!!! Don't the clothes get wrinkled in the bags??

Thanks for the info, you definately learn something new everyday here!!!

Hey, this sounds great! I will definately do that for my dd3 as it will be nice to have the socks, shirt, shorts/pants/skirt that all match w/undies. I am also trying (as I normally do) to keep the colors of her wardrobe to one or two main colors w/a supporting cast as it is easier to buy one or two colors of shoes than having them in pink, purple, blue, green and white!!!!!!! Yes, I DO love to shop!:)

Ziploc bags here I come!!!!!

We were packing last night. DH sat on his, to remove the air. Worked well. He could get 5 shirts, in one 2.5 gallon Hefty. Definately saved space in the suitcase.

Target has Hefty 2.5 gallon ziploc bags.

You are right. I recently bought mine at Target and just checked. They are 2.5 gallons and are very roomy! :flower:

I don't roll mine - just remove the air and none of our clothes are wrinked.

We use the extra large bags (must be 2 gallon) and pack an outfit per bag. Makes it easy to have the DD4 get dressed in the morning - and I know everything is going to match. I'm travelling this time with DD9months and thinking about packing a diaper in with her clothes so that's one less thing to be digging for when we get her dressed as well.
