I'm going through my "ultimate packing list" and have a couple of questions....for starters, I HATE packing stuff I will never use. Seriously, just takes away from stuff I can buy when I'm there:rolleyes1 . Anyways, in December, will I really need to bring Sun block and aloe? Or Rain Ponchos or an umbrella? Bathing suits or trunks (will it be too cold?)? What else do you pack that you think you are going to need that you never use??? I personally NEVER use the sewing kit that I always bring...I figure that I'll fix it when I get home (or take it to a seamstress - whichever comes first!)

I wouldn't go without sunblock, but I burn at the mention of the word sun.

last year we were there from the 1st to the 8th. I was burned crispy at the beginning of the week and by the last day I was in my winter coat, gloves and hat (during the day).

You really need to pack smart. What helped us was to check weather.com and the local Orlando news stations weather bug reports just before we left. If I hadn't done that I wouldn't have had the hat and gloves :)

We went this past February and it was cold! Unfortunately, we'd packed for the heat. So, we were under-dressed. Fortunately we were able to get creative with layers. We still needed sunscreen, and since it rained a lot we had to get ponchos at SeaWorld. However, other than my essential toiletries, I try not to stress about bringing "everything". I figure I can get some things there in a pinch. The one thing I do bring are bandaids and ointment - I can never have enough of those after a day in the parks!

In Florida you should wear sunscreen every day of the year. And brief afternoon rains are common there, even in December, so the umbrella and rain poncho are also handy. Usually I just carry the rain poncho, because it's lighter weight than an umbrella.

If you are from Canada, pack the swimsuits! We were in the pool in December. It was pretty warm(high 70's/low 80's) and we thought the pool was great, but found it hilarious that the life guards were bundled up. I'm sure they thought we were insane too.

We used our ponchos/umbrella last Dec. Only one day, but it really poured! We were glad to have them. The ironic thing is that it has never rained on any of our previous trips which were mostly in October. It can rain in December.

If you bring the sunblock you won't need the aloe. ;)

thanks everyone....our packing lists can be pretty insane, and truly I don't believe we get to bring enough luggage due to airline restrictions, but I guess we will bring the swimsuits, and the sunblock. I will keep the umbrella at home, but bring the ponchos. And I guess we'll bring the sunblock too.

Thanks everyone! Jo

Dh and I went for the first time last December the second week. I took capris and 3/4 length sleeve shirts. Dh took jeans and tee's we each took a light weight jacket. We live in snow country( we fly in and out of Buffalo NY) so we thougt it was warm to us and only use the jacket in the morning and evening. Oh I worn jeans down and worn them back.
