I'm making my packing list for my son who is 7 months old. Want to make sure I don't forget or overlook something. Any suggestions?

Distilled or nursery water. Do not use FL water for an infant-- for drinking or for mixing formula. It has a very high sulfur content and can wreck havic on the stomach.

I will be going with a 7 month old in Febuary. Took DD 1# when she was almost 9 months old.

Infant Tylenol and mortrin (just in case) Any other med they might need like triametic

Your own stroller with rain cover, gate check at airport. Make sure it reclines, has good shade, good basket and is light weight and folds up small.

Snacks such as cherrios or what ever baby likes to eat.

Baby's blankets and personal stuffed toys he or she likes. Good to have the feel of home. Small baby toys, they don't sell too many for that age there, and they are same ones you can get in stores around home for cheaper.

Many passifers if baby uses them. You would be mazed how they can get lost while walking.

Baby sun screen and hats.

Baby carrier ( we like baby bijorn or a sling)

Baby car seat, also good for resting in at resort.

Nursing the baby makes life much easier. If you are nursing, don't ween before the trip. (see thead on nursing at WDW restants.)

Many changes of cothes for different weathers (gets cold at night or A/C.) Or do lundry.

baby wipes, dipers. We bring our own, that way we have room in lugage for suvioners on the way home. Don't forget swim dipars, they sell some there, but very pricey.

Your insurance info and name and number of pediatrition. Small copy of brith certificate for your wallet. (just in case)

Camera and viedo cam. Lots of flim or digtal.

Good luck, hope you have a great time. Take lots of pictures.

If he's using highchairs, we bring the 'Clean Diner' with us. In places like WDW, even though they try to keep everything clean, the highchairs are in constant use and dont' always get to be cleaned, so we just throw that on the seat so we dont' have to worry about what's on it. They sell it at Babies R Us and it really came in handy on our trip to Disneyland when my daughter was 6 months old and just beginning to use highchairs.
Also, my daughter was not too thrilled about being in her stroller all day, but once I attached a toy to it she was occupied and happy. We brought a Graco stroller so we used mix and move toys, but we also attached balloons (high enough that she couldnt' touch it, but could see it), and a baby mobile we found while we were there. It was a plush mobile designed for an infant, but she liked chewing on it and it velcroed to the stroller so she couldnt' throw it over the side.
One other thing I would bring if we went now (my daughter will be 7 months old tomorrow) would be teething medication. We always bring infant tylenol (though they do sell the infant drops in the resorts and at the baby care centers), but if she were teething on the trip, I'd like to have some Baby Orajel too. It's nto am issue for us yet, but when we went in May with extended family, my cousin was almost 7 months old and was teething and they actually went to a grocery store to buy some Baby Orajel because they didnt' want to keep giving her Tylenol. The baby care centers might have this (we never looked), but if you have a teether you might want it just in case.

we just use normal bottled water for the babys bottles (the kind that comes in those huge jugs for the fridge) and she was fine with that.

nursing is probably easier, but we didn't find bottle feeding a chore - we pre-filled bottles with water every am, and then used the pre-measured sachets of powder - we just mixed up the bottles whenever we needed them and didn't have to worry about refridgeration at all.

While I agree that highchairs aren't that clean, I couldn't be bothered with carrying a cover for the highchair around (not a critiscim if you want too, just for me too much hassle).

I would bring some safety reins for the highchair though - maybe not a problem at 7 months, but my 14 month old likes to climb out if you look away for even a second.

I would take some wipe clean bibs - they are a godsend - you can use them and them just wipe them down with a wipe ready for next time. Or disposable bibs are good too, but we find the wipeclean ones cover better and you don't have to keep throwing them away.

I would also recommend a sling of some sort - at 7 months you might be ok with a baby bjorn, or a ring sling or a pouch sling - we used a Baby Bjorn and a pouch last trip and will be using a Hip Hammock next month - some way of carrying baby in lines is essential

The highchair cover is really small and fits inside the diaper bag, or in the stroller basket, if you're interested-not like a highchair cover for a regular highchair at home. It's very light and portable, plus it comes with it's own strap to keep them in the chair. I'm not even close to being a germ freak, but it just always seems that there is food or something sticky on those restaurant highchairs. This eliminates cleaning the chair before putting the baby in it, and you can throw it in the wash when you get home. Plus, it adds a little bit of cushion and creates a more snug fit in the highchair.

We used the Baby Bjorn all day when my daughter was 3 months old, but used the stroller much more at 6 months, and then I usually just held her in lines. Of course, my Bjorn was just recalled so I won't be using it agian till I get my replacement from them (very inconvenient as we're headed to Las Vegas on Thursday and it's so much easier to carry her through the airport in that, leaving the stroller free for carryons).

What Bjorn did you have that was recalled? What was wrong with it? Mine is a hand me down from a friend, but it apears in great condistion and is very easy to use. It is one of the leather ones, new in 2001 when her 1st baby was born.

It's the Baby Bjorn active carrier. It's relatively new, I think it came out a year ago. We bought it in late December 2003. You can read about the recall here Baby Bjorn Active Carrier Recall . It says that the back adjuster can loosen from the shoulder straps and then the baby can slip out  ! They said no injuries have been reported, luckily.

thanks for the link. That is a nice discribtion of which ones are being recalled. Mine was not incuded (the older model with out the lumber support, but has the leg strap buttons.) Thank goodness this baby likes the carrier, my oldest daughter never did. But then I had sunggly and it was too hard to get the baby in and out of. The Baby Bjiorn is a brezze to get the baby in and out off.

We took our DD when she was 7 months and had such a great time and I think she did too. She was so happy and well behaved while we were away.
I didn't see anyone mention to bring swim diapers, our DD loved going in the pool with us and the swim diapers are so expensive there.
We also brought a blow up baby ring for her to sit in in the pool, it had a slot for each of her legs to go through, very cheap but handy and safer than holding her I found (I always held on to her when she was in it, just a bit of added protection).
We brought soft, easy to pack toys from home and a big, thin blanket to put on the floor of the hotel so she could have some freedom after being in the stroller so long.
Sun screen and lots of hats, a receiving balnket in the stroller to give added shade (be sure your stroller has a canopy).
If you think you will do laundry pack some of your own detergent, DW is no place to get a rash.
Have a great time, we will never forget her first trip and we are so glad we did it.

An inflatable bathtub to place baby in a safer and cleaner enclosed space while bathing , especially if you're in a hotel

Buy Lysol so you can spray everything down

Yes, and most definitely a medical kit for infants and eating supplies if baby eats table food. There are utensil kits at the dollar store (Dollar Tree) which comes with a small spoon, fork, and the encapsulating carrier.

HTH and have fun! :sunny:

We've taken our baby twins at 7 mos. old and 13 mos. old, and will be going back again when they're 18 mos. old! Here are some things not mentioned above:

> Pacifier holders. Just clip one end to baby's shirt and the pacifier is on the other end. That way, if the baby spits the pacifier out, it will not fall on the ground or get lost. You can find these at Walmart or most any store like that, I believe.

> Bibsters. These are disposable bibs, again sold at Walmart or grocery stores, etc. And if the bibs did not get too dirty, we'd put them back in our diaper bag and re-use for next meal.

> Warm PJ's. We made the mistake of bringing short-sleeved PJ's and a bunch of onesies for sleeping. Unfortunately, this meant we could not use the AC at night and we adults had a hard time sleeping.....

> Canned formula. We bought the ready-to-drink travel cans of Enfamil Lipil formula. They are 8 oz. small cans that you can just throw in the diaper bag and then open and pour into the bottle and serve. Water does not have to be added. The cans do not need to be refridgerated until after opened.

I don't know what type of place you're staying in but how about throwing in a couple of outlet plugs & a nightlight? They start getting into things so fast.

Take a bottle brush and diswashing detergent to wash bottles if you use them.

You may find it convenient to get some "take and toss" disposable baby spoons and snack cups (by The First Years or something similar).

Have a great time.
