packing help! - chankanaab ?

I am trying to pack - we are leaving on the 1-3-04 Western. My question is this - do we need beach shoes? I know that we can't wear them for the stingrays. What about at Chanakaab? I believe that you have to go down a rocky stairway to snorkle there. Do you wear beach shoes down then switch to flippers - or do you walk down barefoot? If you wear beach shoes where do you then leave them while you snorkle - where do you leave all of your stuff for that matter? Thanks!

We did this on our own October 2002, not as a Disney Excursion.
I wear Teva's or go barefoot most of the cruise. I don't own beach shoes.
At Chankanaab there were a lot of permanant umbrella-things made of poles and palm leaves. Under them were fiberglass loungers.
We put our towels and sunglasses in my backpack and used a caribeaner hook to loop the straps around one of those poles. But I doubt it was necessary. No one seemed to even look at other people's things, let alone mess with them.
We did have what were "supposed" to be waterproof boxes (not purchased from the ship but from another source) to keep some money and our room keys and kept them around our necks while snorkeling. The water got in, but wet money works as well as dry.
We walked through wonderfully soft sand to rock stairs with a railing and walked into the water. When we got in about waist deep we put on flippers and took off. Wonderful!
