I am looking for advice on what to pack (weather-wise) to go to WDW late Jan-Early Feb of 2012. I have checked out the average temps, but am looking for experience of others. I am from Texas so FL won't be an escape from the snow. We are definitely thin-skinned when it comes to cold!

Thanks so much to anyone who has been there before this time of year and can share tips!!

If you're coming from Texas, you'd be safe bringing pants and long sleeves, and even a jacket just in case. Right now it's getting cold at night - 50s - so plan on it being even colder when you're here : ) It's so on and off though, during the day in the sun it might be in the 70s so...maybe a couple pairs of pants and a couple long sleeves

I'm looking for similar advice. ALTHOUGH, I'm coming from Manitoba Canda where, during my vacation Jan. 20th to 27th, the average temp back home should be around -35 to -45 (celsius) with the windchill. I'll be trying to rock the shorts and t-shirts no matter what the Florida forcast tries to send my way!:rotfl:

We have gone many times in Feb and we pack warm clothes because it can get down right cold. Turtle necks, sweatshirts, coats, & thin streachy gloves are the items we bring. We have witnessed that it has been so cold and Disney did not turn off the sprinklers and things were iced over.

So if you plan to watch fireworks or plan to be out after dark be prepared for it to be cold.

Even though you are in Florida, it is not 80 degrees year around. Jan. is generally the coldest month for Florida.

Plan for layers. You might be able to wear SS and shorts or you might need LS and jeans but bring a sweatshirt ans a light jacket or fleece for evenings. The pools are heated and we usually swim many days if the sun is out. Last year we went Jan 29 for a week and it was quite warm during the days but you need a sweatshirt or jacket to watch the fireworks at night. It is great time with low crowds and few lines.

We're going the same time. Have done Jan/Feb three times in the past. Going again at this time, so it can't be too bad, right? It can be chilly, especially at night. So, we layer. Dress appropriately for the morning temp. By night time, you'll likely need a jacket. We've seen winter parkas and mittens, lol. I am NOT bringing a winter coat to Florida. I'm not bringing mittens, but am considering a light pair of those one size all stretchy knit gloves to keep in my jacket pocket. Even if the day has been nice enough for shorts/capris and tees, we've found that we might need to return to the room for a late afternoon break, and change into our evening gear. If you're not staying on site (or even if you are), you can always rent a locker at the park to keep jackets/clothing that you'll need for later in the day.

We are taking my 3 y/o grandson down there the first week of Feb (4th-11th) We are also from Texas and will be packing at least one pair of shorts, a couple prs of capris, then the rest long pants. We'll also have both short sleeve and long sleeve tshirts, one sweatshirt, one fleece hoodie, gloves, scarves, hats, and a heavier jacket. You never know what Florida weather is going to do. You may be in shorts and swimsuits at the beginning of your trip, but be freezing just a few days later. I know we've worn shorts and been able to swim, then just a few days later were bundled up and still froze. Pack for all possible scenarios. Being able to layer is the key. Get everything out and ready, but don't pack until just a few days until the trip, after checking accuweather.com. Even then though, pack for a wide variety of weather. In the past, accuweather predicted warm weather for our trip and we almost froze.:rotfl: Then again one Jan they predicted cold weather and that's all we packed for. We had to find shorts and tshirts down there.

i am going late jan till early feb too! maybe i'll see you there! :)
this time, im planning to pack for warm clothes because when i went last holiday (1 week from christmas to new years), there was a sudden change in FL weather that our car windows had ices in the morning and the nights were just cold Cold COLD! even the cast members said that its very irregular to be this cold in FL. so this year, we're determined to be dressed warmly!

Well Environment Canada just predicted a snowcopalyps for us this winter so basically if theres no snow there in early february im bringing flip flops!
:cool1:

Actually my boys have those tear away pants, where they can be worn as pants but if you unzip the bottom part they turn into shorts...so im taking those, and i will wear capris pretty much every day. Im taking some of those woolen leg warmers, so if i do have capris on i can at least cover my calves...i wont look too fashionable but hopefully it will be dark! :santa:

There's really no predicting what the weather will be and how it will feel to you. I thought, coming from Buffalo, that I wouldn't find a 55°F night that bad. I was wrong...I was freezing. From Jan 24-Feb 2 we saw lots of different weather and my best advice is take a selection of different stuff so you can layer and just plan on doing laundry at some point.

No matter what the temp is @ DW I am sure it will be warmer than Canada in Winter, so I am bringing shorts for the day and a sweatshirt for night.

Overall, since it's only November, it's a bit premature to worry about what you'll be wearing in late January/early February. Unless you need to buy something (gloves, a warmer coat, etc), then don't sweat it just yet. A few days before you're going, check the local Disney weather and then start packing accordingly.

we were there from January 25 - feb1 last year. We found it similar to our fall/spring weather (ontario, canada)

We were in pants and shirts/light sweater for most of the week, and 2 days in shorts/t****s. The locals were wearing winter jackets, hats and mitts

I guess if you had put that "r" in there, shirts would have come up correctly :thumbsup2
