DH and I are taking a trip (sans children) for F&W and the 1/2 Marathon in November. We are staying in a value studio at AKV (with a waitlist for a BWV std studio) and we are not doing a dining plan. I am not a coffee drinker but I need my Diet Coke in the morning. DH likes his Diet Mountain Dew in the moring and caffeine-free Diet Coke at night. Since we do drink a lot of soda, we will definitely buy the refillable mugs, but I will need to bring the Diet Mountain Dew and Caffeine-Free Diet Coke since it is not sold at WDW. Plus, if we luck out and get that studio at BWV, I don't want to make the long trek to get my morning soda. Heck, even the Mara could be a bit of a hike.

Since we are flying SWA for the first time, I was thinking about taking advantage of the two free bags and packing a suitcase (or 2!) of food and pop. I am thinking about 2L bottles bt are they "safe" for flying? Is there a huge risk of them bursting in flight? I'll also pack some bottles of water too. I am aware of the weight issue, but I am sure that I can spread it out between 2 bags. DH and I usually travel with just carry-ons anyways so I can use up to 4 bags for foodstuffs.

In the past, we've used Garden Grocer for food and beverage delivery, but since it is just the two of us, we won't meet the $40 minimum. Plus, when you add in the delivery fee and tip, the total starts pushing $70. There's no need for me to order groceries if I can take them from home at no additional charge. Is there a way to check a cooler? I have a soft-sided one but there is no way to "lock" it. We need a new one anyways so if anyone has suggestions, I am all ears:thumbsup2.

The fridges are the small mini fridges. You might have to take out a the shelf to get the bottles in.

We always pack some water in our luggage but I would be scared the bottles would explode.

But the gift shop at AKL did have soda in a can or

Truthfully, I gave up hauling bottles of water, especially for use in the parks. I don;t want to lug stuff around all day and try to get onto attractions and rides, plus by mid-afternoon the water is warm. I just buy a cold bottle as I need it. For you Mountain Dew and Coke, I think cans may be better than bottles to fly. I had a new bottle of shampoo that leaked out, but fortunately I had it double bagged with ziplocks.

Also, if you plan to do laundry, I pack some laundry soap powder in a re-used plastic jar.

I would not pack the 2 liter bottles. You never want to take the chance that the bottle would explode in your suitcase and it definitely would be too big to put in a ziploc. You would have to wrap it in a towel but still chancey. Smaller bottles of water/soda would work but wrap it and ziploc it. Besides the change in the cabin pressure you have all that tossing of the suitcases.

If your wait list comes through at BCV, you could walk over to the Hess station. Their sodas are 2 for $2. it's about at 10-15 minute walk. We do that all the time.

Except that the Hess station doesn't carry Pepsi products since they are not sold on property ANYWHERE. Trust me.

LOL, true that!!

2 liters... I would think that those have the potential to explode because of the pressure. I could be wrong.

Also, like pp mentioned, those are mini fridges in the studios, and I don't know if they would fit. If they do, you won't be able to get much else in there.
