Search function not working well for me right now, so sorry if this has been asked already.

Does anyone have a list of prohibited food you are not allowed to bring into the US? I can't recall what was included when we had to fill out our delcaration card when landing in the US.

We are going without the DDP this time and want to save some $$ on breakfasts...out plan was to bring a small kettle to boil water, oatmeal, cereal, granola bars, crackers, nuts, koolaid, peanut butter and some apples.

We plan to use a suitcase to bring down dried goods too (cereals, pastas, snacks, juice boxes etc. ) and then use this suitcase to bring all our souvenirs back! I believe the only prohibitive products are fruit and meat. I once brought over cans of sockeye salmon, and they didn't bat an eye at that.

As long as it is pre-packaged and not open I have not had any issues.

I'm mosty concerned whether or not fresh fruit is prohibited. We've brought lots of pre-packaged items before (granola bars, crackers, cookies, etc) but never any fruit.

I was considering a large package of trail mix in addition to some apples as the apples should survive not too badly.

Is there a link to the US DOT or agriculture I can reference ?

Just don't bring any fresh fruit or meat and you will be fine.

On my last trip I packed a whole suitcase full of food- instant oatmeal, soy milk drinking boxes, a jar of peanut butter, crackers, granola bars, canned fruit, bulk peanuts and bottled water.

I had no problems at security. I was asked what was in the suitcase, "Any fruit or meat". I said no and was on my way. They were more concerned over the tripod in my other suitcase! :lmao:

On our first trip down, where we drove, my poor mother-in-law had made about 20 sandwiches containing various meat and had them packed up in a cooler. We ended up having to leave most of them at the border! They didn't care about chicken or ham, but pepperoni and salami weren't allowed.

I'm amazed at the things I see on here, I never would have thought about doing this....thanks!:yay:
