I know this has been discussed before and that I can pack snacks like biscuits, crisps, etc. but I was wondering if raisins are allowed through customs? I know fresh food isn't but is it ok for dried fruit? I'd like to take some of the little snack packs for the kids. Thank you.

Joanne, you can take them on the flight over but any that haven't been eaten need to be left on the plane when you get to the US. You could buy the Chip n Dale snack mixes in most of the stores over there or if you are staying offsite/have a car you could just buy some from a supermarket. Otherwise, if you wanted to take a fair amount, you could order for delivery to your resort. Garden Grocer is a popular choice :goodvibes

think as long as its still in its sealed packaging yes but once its opened no

Even in sealed packaging it is a definite no. On our first (unprepared for ) trip we took a number of items and checked with customs as to what we were allowed and what not into uSA. Baby milk (already prepared in cartons) was one big no as was an unopened multipack of Sunmaid raisins - we could see the funny side as we were carrying a USA product back into USA and had to hand it over :goodvibes:

I got stopped by sally the beagle onec for having an apple and a bannana in my bag.Nearly died. They really told me off about it but could see I was horrified.A genuine mistake that could have cost us a few hundred dollors. I vowed then I would not take any food etc in. I amjust glad that time they didnt look in my case:scared1:Had cereal bars cup a soup dairylee cheese pots etc etc. Gonna pop to the nearest supermarket this time on our first night as eating most breakfasts in the one bed at OKW.
Lesson learnt hey:happytv:

Ooohhh.... glad I asked! Thanks everyone!! We're staying at ASM without a car. I'll just take some biscuits (keep them plain!) and perhaps some mini cheddars as a backup (packed in my case) and then see what we can get when we're there.

the closest place for supplies with out a car is the Hess garage opposite DTD (planet Hollywood stop)
If getting beer or wine make sure its in a bag have done the round trip from pop in 45 min on the bus

If you are onsite without a car look into a garden grocer delivery - you can have a case of water delivered and snack items like raisins, breakfast foods etc.

we would do the hess run after we had visited DTD or Typhoon lagoon
