I just ordered several packing cubes from ebags, but I'm a little skeptical about their usefulness. Can you all convince me I did the right thing? Or should I return the order? Any experiences would be appreciated.

Love love love packing cubes so much easier to unpack and/or find things in suitcases.
Especially useful for children's clothes, socks, underwear, etc
I roll clothes and they fit really well in the packing cubes

I just finished packing. Here is an example of what they helped me accomplish.

DD wears a child's size 7/8. In her carry on I have packed 5 very poofy thick custom sundresses (not typical thin Disney dresses but thick cotton with a lot of ruffle). 11 short/shirt outfits, 1 skirt/shirt outfit, bathing suit, 11 pair of underwear, 1 pair of sandals, swim goggles, and a couple other small items. The bags keep everything organized and do help to compress a bit.

I am an adult wearning a size 14. I was able to pack a full 8 days worth of clothing and an extra pair of shoes in a carry on.

One other perk. I have different colors for each person in our group. So packing different items into each cube and having different colors makes it very easy to stay organized in a small space like a hotel room. You can just plop the bags in a drawer, on a shelf, or whatever and have easy access to your stuff without having to dig through suitcases.

Hope that helps some.

I use the zip bag savers that compress all the air out. I've always been able to pack a lot using them. Does anyone find they can pack more using the packing cubes or is it the same?

We got some packing cubes for a trip later this year where we will be restricted on luggage weight, but we practiced with them on our last stay at Disney. I love them. Can't believe how much stuff I was able to get in them. We usually only stay 4 or 5 nights, but before the packing cubes, I was using a bigger suitcase. Was able to use a smaller suitcase with the packing cubes with the same amount of clothing, or maybe even more. I didn't even unpack my cubes, just put them in the drawer as is, and then just removed what I needed each day. We don't swim, so I had no wet clothing to deal with. DH did not keep his clothing in his cubes, and thought when it was time to go home he would just jam all his dirty clothes in the suitcase, Well, he had a hard time getting the clothing back into the smaller suitcase.

I usually travel with the vaccuum bags, that i would just sit on to remove the air, but I definately think the packing cubes worked better.

If in doubt, go to YouTube and find videos on using packing cubes.

Yes, i find the packing cubes will allow me to take more clothing, and they keep me better organized, even down to all my electronic cords.

Used packing cubes last summer for a 5 day Disney cruise followed by 3 days at Disney. LOVED them. I too left my non-hanging stuff in the cubes and tossed them in the drawers.

Yeah I didn't mention that but I use one of the smallest size I have for all my chargers (camera, phone, iPad)
I couldn't locate a couple of my largest size when packing for our last trip and I was so bummed. Of course I found them right away when I got home.

Yeah I just unpack my cubes into the drawers. Also very helpful if you put multiple people's clothes in the same bag. I always carry on a small pilot case in case of lost luggage and pack a day's worth of clothes in it for all 3 people in my family. Each person gets their own cube so it is very easy when we get to Disney-no separating stuff.

I wasted a bunch of money on packing cubes because they were so highly recommended here. I think that 2.5 gallon ziplock bags work so much better.

They are great for keeping TSA hands off your unmentionables if they decide they need to go through your things. They can just scan/wand the cube. Keeps everything organized.

Love packing cubes, they really help to get a lot more into your suitcase and to keep it well organized. They are especially useful if you are doing a spit stay or have more than one destination on your trip. We did 2 days at Cocoa Beach a few years back and everything for those days were in the blue cubes and I didn't have to touch anything else in the suitcase. You can easily roll your clothes and that helps with wrinkles.

The only disadvantage? They are so good at saving space, that I ended up overweight on my suitcase coming home because I just had to fill the empty space with souvenirs, so I ended up buying a Mickey suitcase in the gift shop for coming back home. Oops! Anyway, now I will just travel with the extra empty bag for souvenirs and still enjoy the organization I get with the packing cubes.

Same here...though I didn't waste a lot of money on them. I only bought one set; tried them on a recent trip. They didn't save any space for me (actually took about the same amount of space as not using any cubes/bags) so they're now just sitting in a suitcase probably never to be used again. I prefer the ziploc bags. I use the 2.5 gallon ones for small items or complete outfits for my daughter. I use the larger travel bags for the adult clothing. Roll the air out, zip it shut, and throw it in the suitcase. I can get way more stuff in a suitcase using the ziploc bags than the packing cubes. The cubes are nice for organization (though I accomplish the same thing with the ziplco bags) but they didn't save me any space. We drive on most of our vacations so the weight of the suitcase isn't an issue for us -- I just try to get as much as possible in a suitcase and the ziploc bags are awesome for that.

They're not space saving in my opinion...but they are amazing for organization. I break my packing cubes down by items: one for tops, one for bottoms, one for underwear/ swimsuit, and one for all other things (like poncho, park bag, pjs). Its nice to be able to pull out one cube for the category of items you're looking for and not destroy your entire suitcase in the process!

I don't use the cubes or bags, but I do use the flip fold and it saves a lot of rooms for shirts. I could never get my shirts to fold exactly right and now they are, as well as taking us less space!

I have cubes at the folding envelope. That envelope is a huge space saver. Plus, I already feel like I use a ton of zip lock bags for other stuff, I don't want to use a whole box up every time I travel. :P

We use the same ones over and over for travel. I have ones to pack clean clothing and others that get used for the dirty clothing. They last through numerous trips.

We use ours all the time....pretty much whenever we have to take clothes somewhere. (Swim class, sports practice..etc). We have several sets from IKEA so they were very cheap...$8 for the set of 4. When we go on a trip I use the flip fold jr. To fold everything uniformly....I love having some organization. Good luck!
