packing cubes?

Silly me. I thought they were actual cubes. I just went and looked them up. They are just mini-suitcases!

I'll stick with my ziplock bags.

They don't even compare to a ziplock! The packing cubes open up on all three sides allowing you to easily pack a lot, I mean a lot in them. Then they compress a bit when you close them. I can't believe I waited so long. I love them, so easy to unpack at the hotel/cruise. Just unzip and slide the top under and place in the drawer.

I don't need more baby suitcases to put in my suitcase. Nor do I have an aversion to my stuff sitting in a drawer.

They work for you, great. Not all of us want to waste money on something we don't need.

I use them all the time. My husband thought it was silly because we are always quite organized with our suitcases. Then, when he opened the suitcase the first time we used it, he realize how much better it was and it is even more organized than before. Believe me, I don't even remember what it was like packing without them. :)

I travel a lot for work and just love the packing cubes! I am able to pack, unpack, and repack so much more quickly using them. Absolutely no comparison to ziplock bags.

i understand what u r saying about the neatness, but since my last name is not "Monk", I just can't be bothered with more zippers than my suitcase already has.
Its loaded with compartments, pouches, expanding folds, straps, zippers...heck, Houdini couldn't figure the darn things out. Not ever going to compound that with nesting egg luggage cubes unless there is a small chocolatey present inside the smallest cube..............

Do packing cubes help to compress the clothes as well as keep them organized?

Well, everyone values things differently. To me they aren't a waste of money. Everyone is different and no one said anyone had to buy them.

I have used the Samantha Brown organizer version and it is very helpful.

They had a set of these on sale with the Amazon prime sale yesterday so I ordered them. I am really fascinated with them and I've been wanting to try them for sometime. I'll try to remember to post on here and let everyone know what I think of them once I use them. If I really fall in love with them I will order some more from the ebags. I usually use space saver bags, but they do end up kind of lumpy once you squeeze the air out.

But this discussion reminded me of something from a few years ago which I think perfectly illustrates how some people really are the type who get the appeal of packing cubes (like me) and some don't and never will (like my husband). My husband decided to take our two young boys to visit his parents for a long weekend, while I went to Boston with my mom. This was the first time he had traveled alone with them, although I was quite used to traveling and packing with and for them.

So I packed a suitcase for the kids. I took the SpaceSaver bags and I put an outfit for each day of the weekend and labeled it with a sharpie, one for each child for each day (Carter-Saturday, etc). Then in a separate bag just pajamas and another for toothbrushes, etc. I explained my system to my husband even though I could see his eyes were glazing over as I spoke. I felt I was doing him a real favor because I know he's not used to getting the kids ready for bed or dressed in the morning (he travels for work and is gone a lot).

Well at the end of the long weekend I got the suitcase to unpack and everything wias still neatly labeled and packed, except for one days' worth of clothes and the pajamas. My husband just had them basically wear the same clothes every day, EVEN THE SAME UNDERWEAR! And of course the toothbrushes and stuff hadn't even been touched

So, whatever I decide to do as far as buying more packing cubes bags or just continue using spacesaver bags, I definitely will not be asking my husband's opinion as I do not believe HE will "get it"!

Lucky you, I tried so hard to snag that same 3 pack of slim ebags. I wasn't fast enough as every single one but leopard was already gone.

I used packing cubes to pack our family of 4 into 2 medium suitcases for a 3 week vacation overseas, they really helped get everything tightly compressed.

I also packed myself and my daughter into a single large suitcase for a 2 week trip, and we had a ton of space for souvenirs.

Yep that's what I got

I tried to get them pretty soon after the sale went on, like immediately, so maybe that's all they had to begin with. Obviously leopardskin is not my favorite but what the heck it's just gonna be in my suitcase and I wanted to try these out and I want to get the discount.

I used something like this on our recent cruise. They were very helpful not only for compressing the clothes but for storing laundry at the end of the trip after I had done my last set of washing. We were gone for 2 weeks, a family of 4, and I got us packed in three small suitcases and one large one. Could never have done that without the cubes.

I wanted to get them for my boys, so I couldn't go with the leopard. lol Otherwise if it was for me, sure. Just like you said, it's only going to be in my suitcase.

I used the compression bags for years (which are nothing more than ziplock bags that let you push out the air and compress the contents). I switched over to the packing cubes over the last year and I could not believe the difference in convenience and flexibility. I travel a TON for work and was not sure I would feel the value in the switch. I was wrong! They are soooo much easier to pack, and to get in and out of mid trip than the compression bags. At actually saves time in packing and unpacking and organization while at my destination is fantastic. It is hard to describe why it is so different and improved....but it really is much better (sort of have to try it, to really get it I think). When I am traveling for one week or longer at a time, it really comes into play.

I have both the eBags and Dot&Dot lines. I find them to be equally as good...and my only preference between the two is which on happens to be on sale, in the right color, when I am buying. :)

I am half and half about them. I have them and use them, but sometimes I find them a hassle. I wish they were see-through, sometimes I have to unzip several to find what I am looking for. I suppose I could figure out a cheap and easy way to label them via Pinterest, but I hadn't gotten around to it. It's helpful for MY clothes, as I like to change my mind about what I'm going to wear as the day comes up, rather than planning ahead. For my kids (preschoolers) I prefer to just pre-select their clothes for the day and put them together in a big ziplock with the date written on it. I could use packing cubes for that if I had the right sizes, but I have just 2 full sets, so they are all different sizes. If I had 7-10 of the SAME size, it would be easier to use them for that.
My DH refuses to use them, because he also mocks me for being OCD and thinks they are ridiculous :)

WOW! That's terrific! sooo many people here worry about the size of the cabins and you can fit your whole family into 2 medium suitcases.......8-):P
