I'll be packing soon for me and my 3.4 yr old twins (DH packs for himself) I like the idea of putting the kids clothes in ziplocks by day, but we'll have a w/d and I don't minding doing laundry on vacation. My question really concerns the pros and cons of packing cubes vs just rolling the clothes and putting them in large zip lock bags. I really like the idea of packing cubes, but are they worth the added expense - DH will want to know WHY? Thanks! I know I can count on you packing experts out there!

I just found Space Bags at Home Depot for $3.50. The set contains one Large, 2 Medium bags that you use a vacuum to scrunch them, and one travel bag that you roll the air out. I have seen these in Walmart and Target bu they were about $19.99.
I have a small air pump/vacuum that I bought at Walmart for about $10 that I aways bring with me. It doesn't take up any more room that a pair of shoes and I use it to scrunch the bags. Peggie

I'm a ziploc fan. Just the regular gallon size. Everything gets bagged. Socks, undergarments, bathing suits, kids clothes, shoes, cosmetics, bottles of shampoo and hairspray, jewelry, hair elastics and stuff, books, snacks, camera stuff.

Keeps it all organized, and easy to pack and unpack. But then I don't really have a need to compression pack the adult clothes.

What do you do with your dirty clothes? Do you just pack them back in the suitcase and recycle the ziplocks?

We usually don't come home with dirty clothes. We wash them before we leave. If we do have any, we put them in the plastic laundry bag in the closet, the one provided by mousekeeping, and pack it in the suitcase.

We use the travel space bags. Load it up and roll and press the air out the special valve, no pump needed. First time I used them, took same amount of clothes I normally take and after putting it all into the space bags, my suitcase looked half empty so I went through my packing list again and had everything I always take. Wife saw me unpack at WDW and said next trip she wanted some too. Coming home, I just put the flat space bags on the bottom of my bag and all the dirty stuff is in 2 disney laundry bags, doesn't have to be neat and tidy going home. I'll never travel without them and we do take some large zip locks for ice, food and snacks with us just in case.

Great idea everyone & thanks Pepe for the going home tip. I don't plan on doing laundry while I'm there - I do enough at home - so I was wondering what to do with all those ziplocks.
I just bought travel bags in various sizes at Costco. Looks like we're set!
