I usually use zip lock bags to pack for my WDW trips, but am looking at some of the packing cubes on ebags (specifically the medium size and maybe the small long ones). Anyone use both zip locks and packing cubes, and prefer one over the other for packing adults clothes? Do they save anymore space than the zip locks? How about those packing folders?

Background: I recently bought some new duffel bags that I knew, would be well below the airlines maximum measurements, so there would be no chance of problems with TSA. They are also my first ever set without wheels or frames, since I was also trying to cut down on weight. However, now I need to find a way to organize my packing, while at the same time fit the same amount into the smaller bags. Both the carry on and the checked bag have long shoulder straps, that can be removed and placed inside the bag, so I'm not worried about carrying them. I just need to find the best way to organize them and still be able to put alot in them. So which is best: packing cubes or zip locks?

I voted for packing cubes - I find them easier to pack with less wrinkling. As far as space goes, you might get a tad bit more air out of the zip locks for a little more room in your bag...

I don't know what a packing cube is, but I recently finished packing all of our clothes and I used 1 gallon ziplocks for the kids, and 2 gallon ziplocks for me and DH, and it worked great! :woohoo: Got all our clothes in a 21 inch case and a small duffle!

Both!!! My husband and I both travel frequently, and we utilize the packing cubes and ziplocks. The benefit of using both is that the ziplocks compress more and add a little extra room. So if we need more room, we add ziplocks instead of an extra cube. The best way to organize for long trips is to pack like things together so you are not emptying out your suitcase each day looking for stuff. Good luck!

Cubes for me! I use the Eagle Creek Pack-It system exclusively--folders, cubes, half cubes & quarter cubes. I use a folder for pants & shirts, half cubes for underwear/camis/socks/pj's, a quarter cube for toiletries & another quarter cube for cosmetics. I take either a full cube or an extra folder for dirty clothes (they take up a lot less room if they're folded). I don't know how I ever went anywhere before I had this system! www.eaglecreek.com/accessories

I'm a 2 1/2 gallon ziplock girl. The box is sitting right now on top of the pile of clothes that's ready to start getting packed.

I don't fly nearly close to as much as I used to, but my checked luggage has gotten chosen for further screening about 75% of the times I've flown over the last decade. (Yes, I have checked and my name is not on the watch list :rotfl: ) I just know if I had the packing cubes it would up that number. Plus, god forbid something leaks in the suitcase, I know my ziplocked items will be protected.
