So Im packing for our disney trip in 6 days. Ive got me, DH, DD, and DS to pack for. Every time I think Im done packing for one suit case I end up finding more things that need to go into the case. I feel like Im taking the whole house!!! My kids and I are flying down, but my DH is driving so it dont matter how much we take I dont guess since we dont have to pay for the luggage. But how can I get it all together without feeling like IM forgetting something?????

The good news is that you are starting early. That way you'll definately remember everything you need by the end of the week

Pack everything then take half out. Seriously. There isn't that much room in the hotel rooms and you will end up with a lot of stuff you don't need. Just take the basics and stuff you need for the parks.

for the kids i pack per day. i use zip lock bags and put each day in one bag and label it. i find it easier to see exactly wht each day will require. then i take 1 par per kid and put some extras in it.
then for my husband and i, i pack like i normally do, but we dont seem to require as much clothes.

i dont think that because someone drives that they should bring more things, remeber the heavier your car the more gas you use. so really decide what you really need.for example, dont bring big sweatshirts "just in case" well its august, you dont need them. thats just an example, i dont know what youve packed. just look at everything objectively.

i always pack the night before from a detailed list. sometimes starting too early isnt a good thing.

I agree...don't bring sweatshirts or long pants...just in case. You will NEVER need them. Also, if you are staying onsite, don't forget the rooms are small. There isn't a ton of room for 4 people's luggage. I could PM you my packing list if you think it would help.

A Packing list would be great..... Thanks!!! I dont pack sweatshirts or long pants....its Florida in august!!! LOL. I have one suit case for each of my kids and one for me and DH. My DD will be staying in the family suite with my mom and dad, so it will just be me, DH and DS in my room......But he's 1 and very MESSY!!! We are gonna be there for 9 days, so I figured on about 6 outfits for me and DH for the week doing some laundry, and about 10 for DH and DD so I will have extra if they get dirty.....which they do OFTEN!!!

I don't plan to start packing until the week we leave. I'd love a packing list so I may contact you to get one as well. ;) Only time I pack jackets and/or sweatshirts is when we are going to a place that tends to get chilly in the evening (think Colorado Springs, CO...definitely want a jacket and a pair of jeans for there even in July).

I also plan to put all of our suitcases inside the largest suitcase to save room inside the hotel room.

I'm a compulsive over packer. We go for two weeks - in July. I know we wear two outfits a day. We go to the parks in the morning, come back to swim and nap, then go out for dinner and maybe the parade or fireworks. I pack the kids things in ziploc bags. I think I packed each of the girls 14 short sets and 7 sundresses, ds I packed 18 outfits. That might sound crazy but I still ended up doing 6 loads of laundry over the two weeks.

We ended up with 8 bags - had to pay extra for 3 of them. DH used to argue with me about packing, but now he just shrugs and gives up!

It is hard for me not to overpack but I find that I enjoy having fewer things to deal with. We changed clothes at least 2 times a day and brought enough outfits to wear so that we wouldn't HAVE to do laundry.
You know what? I did laundry anyway! OUr clothes were sweaty and gross. The kids played in the water spray areas, etc... I didn't want to be in the same room with all those icky clothes. Next time, I will pack half as much and know that I am going to do laundry!;)

I would love to see your packing list! Please help! I'm leaving in a few days as well!!! and I haven't even brought up pur suitcases from the basement

I would love a packing list as well. I've been writing things down and I have the kids packed..but I just want to make sure I don't forget anything.

Thanks in advance!

We don't leave until Aug 27th and yesterday I already packed our first aid stuff!! For clothes I pack for half the actual length of the trip and do laundry midway through. I overpack on everything else! The idea of paying Disney prices for batteries, meds just drives me crazy. Just take your time and if your not sure something should go - it's a no. Yall will have fun even if go naked - its Disney!!

Hi!
I got one PM for a packing list. I would be happy to share with whoever. Just PM me your email address. It's a Word Document.

I have a chart where I have listed everyone's outfit for the week and taken changing due to heat into account. I bought the 2.5 gallon ziploc bags and am able to fit all of our clothes (4 of us) into 1 ziploc if all clothes are rolled. I am paranoid about losing clothes, so 1 of our carryons will have 4 outfits in it along with extra socks and swimsuits just in case. The rest will be packed into 1 other large suitcase (along with diapers and snacks).

I would figure our what outfits you need for each day and really pair down what you are taking. :goodvibes

Ziplock packing works great for the kiddo's by the way. I pack DD's clothes into Ziplocks with underwear and the matching hair items. Saves so much time in the morning. I just tell her what bag to grab. I will be dressing DD in customs so I know what she is wearing each day already! Don't forget that if you don't plan on doing laundry, you'll probably need 2 shirts per day and 2 outfits per day for the kiddos. That's a LOT of clothes!!!

Aren't there some websites that are supposed to help people steamline packing? I went to one once and can't find it anymore. It looked very good.

My husband went down the basement last night to get our large suitcase so i could start packing this morning. Low and behold our big suitcase is GONE:scared1: I can't believe it! my mother lent it to my brother in PA and now I don't have it when I need it! MF'er....She lent out my stuff WTH does she get off? She pulled up 3 smaller duffle bag wheelers and said here use these:confused3 Uh no, I don't want all these small bags. My one big one would have been perfect. She is not understanding the one bag per person rule. Then she said the girls can bring their suitcases (HSm and HM) as carry ons. I explained to her that the whole reason I am checking my strollers at luggage is because I don't want to have to carry a lot of stuff. I have one big tote bag and a backpack (to carry Mia's injections) Thats it! I don't wall the excess. I really don't. Why can't I make her understand this. So now, my brother can't get up here until next week (his work sched STINKS) So I have to go buy one....:headache: IM A LITTLE PEEVED...can ya tell?

Sorry for the vent....

So I will head to target and get a large suitcase and some ziploc bags (thanks for that idea)

I just finished up the window decals for the windows:yay: Off to get my day moving

I've also read here that you will want to copy the packing list twice, so you can check everything off before you go, and then have a clean one to check off as you pack to come home.

I always have a medicine bag packed and our bathroom bags too. We travel enough (even if it's only by car for an overnight someplace) that it's just plain easier to have all the meds and bathroom stuff pre-packed. I've already checked to make sure nothing needs to be refilled, so I can just throw the bags into a suitcase the night before leaving. I also have a backpack that has the "Disney stuff" in it- misty fans, hand-held fans, up-to-date suncreen and spf15 lipgloss, glow sticks, ponchos, etc. ANything that I find during the year on sale or at the dollar store that I KNOW we will want for the next disney trip goes into that bag. The watershoes are there also. Everything's in one place, so it'll just be dumped in the suitcase also. We leave in 10 days and about all I have left to pack is our actual clothes, which won't get packed until the day before! We fly down on USAir so we will only check one bag (at $15!!) and take the other one, filled with clothes only, as DDs carry-on plus her purse, and I'll have a backpack and a purse also. DD's backpack will be in the checked suitcase. This will give us another bag for coming home- we'll be on JetBlue and can check both suitcases for free, and we'll each have a backpack. I think we are pretty much good to go :thumbsup2 if only it were TODAY :hourglass

AMEN!!!! I found myself overpacking the first 2 trips too! This year....no way! We are going for 10 days...I am packing for 5!!! Seriously! I am doing a load of laundry night 5 at the pool and again the last night before we leave. I would rather spend $10 on laundry than pack 2 huge suitcases. You never need everything you pack anyways!! This time of year...shorts, taktops, bags for parks, and whatever goes in the bags! Swimsuits, beachtowels, sun visors, underwear, toothbrush & deodorant!!!! Might be SLIGHT exaggeration...but pretty close to reality!!! My suggestion, don't overthink it...cause then you'll overpack it!!! It's Disney....enjoy it!!!!
