but I am so desperately wanting to get all our stuff in our carry-on luggage. I have a huge hangup with checking my bags. I even work for an airline and realize that lost bags just don't happen that often. I think I hate waiting for my luggage! I have been to New England/Canada for 14 days with just our carry-on, so I am convinced we can do this nine days too!

We have two matching sets of Samsonite roll-on bags with the smaller overnight sized bag that sits on top of it.

My husband is taking one formal black suit, and will utilizing the same black jacket for less formal occasions, such as dining in Lumiere's. That means we only have one jacket to pack. My formal wear is very light and thin.

Can I hear for any of you seasoned cruisers on whether you think we can successfully pack in the four bags we have to carry-on?

if you can get all your clothes in your carryons...but why would you want to be bothered rolling/carrying all that around until your room is ready? You will get on the ship and go to lunch before your rooms are ready, do you want to have to deal with luggage and go through buffet lines? You may even have time to sit around and get some sun. Disney does a great job with this, unlike the airlines. I personally, would pack "normally" and just carry a small bag with your with your essentials. But, it's up to you. Either way, have a great time!

I supose it is possible, but not for me! There were 2 adults and 3 kids on our last cruise and we had 8 pieces of luggage, and 4 backpacks and one carryon! And yes, we did use almost all of it!

I don't know if you mean you hate waiting for your luggage on the ship, or at the airport. If it is at the airport, you could carry your luggage on the plane and then check most of it at the terminal so you don't have to carry it around the ship with you.

When we went in February, we could not get to our room until after 1:30. We tried twice and were turned away by crew in the hallways. It was a pain carrying the backpacks and my carryon around the ship for over an hour.

Go for it. I just unpacked and one-half of what we took was never worn. I packed an outfit for myself and my daughter for every meal, we ended up buying some new outfits in Key West so what I brought didn't get used. Also, during the days at sea, you most likely will be in a swimsuit during the day. I spent almost 2.5 hours ironing clothes that where never worn! If you don't have enough and run out of clean clothes they do have laundry services and self serve machines on board. Kathy

Go for it. I spent 8 days in the UK in November using only a carry-on for packing. Thinking back to our cruise, I really think it can be done if you're serious about it :)

Thanks for the feedback, guys. I am positively serious about getting everything into my four bags! I've already decided that we will utilize the valet onboard as soon as we have access to our room for pressing of all items packed. It's very worth the cost to me to not have to worry with any laundry detail while on vacation!

I assumed that I could (and would!) leave all but one of our bags at the port when we arrive and the porters would ensure getting our luggage to our rooms. Is this a correct assumption?

I just don't want to have to check bags on the plane!

I'm sure you can do it. We are packing for three of us for 10 days in two carry on bags. I find that on the cruise I am in my bathing suit with shorts on when necessary. I have packed in only two bags several times and still had too many clothes. My only problem is not packing too many shoes!!

I guess we've been pretty lucky because when we've boarded, we've been able to put our luggage in our stateroom first, get the navigator and start the routine of "eating, ressies, and relaxation"!

Four bags? That's nothing! I could do it in one!

Seriously, I don't mind doing laundry on vacation. I pack things that go together, and I don't take stuff I don't need. Shorts and swim suits pack small too.

Best Advice: PACK LIGHT!

Last time it was just me and two bags (One carry-on tote and a small checked bag that can be a carry-on too.) for a 3 night land and 4 night sea package.

This time there will be three of us, with two dress-up nights (We're wearing the same clothes for both). I'm trying for two checked bags (one a garment bag).

Put everything you want to take on your bed, then pack only half if it! If you need more help, go with -- Can I lived without it later if it gets lost or destroyed on this trip! Then leave the item at home where it is safe.

Good luck! One week till we fly and a wake-up for the Cruise!!!

We are going to have a test run this weekend when we lay all our clothing out and figure out what we still need. My husband is a great packer and I have no doubt that we can do it!

A friend just got back from a 7 night RCCL western caribbean and did the same thing...worked great!!
