We'll be staying at Kidani village in late september and flying Jet Blue. Jet Blue allows you one free checked bag. We probably won't need to check in a bag for everyone in our party so we were thinking of packing a box of non-perishable items like pancake mix and cereal.

Has anyone ever done this? Any problems with the airline or magical express?

Of course stuff like milk, eggs and bread will be bought when we get to disney. Just thought this might be a good way to save a little bit of money.

We fly Southwest, but many times have packed one checked bag with food items for in-room snacks and have had no problems at all.

On the return trip, the then "empty" bag holds souvenir items.

As long as you stay under the weight limit, I don't see a problem. Just carefully wrap any liquids. I always take a can of coffee with me and some snacks, but we go to the grocery store (several times) while we're there.

We don't check a box. We check our big hard-sided suitcase filled with breakfast and snacks. Makes for a great place to bring home all the extra stuff we picked during the trip. I also put our shampoo, conditioner, soap, laundry detergent, sunscreen etc. that cannot go in the carry-on.

Thanks for the responses

Good tip about using the suitcase on the way back for souvenirs!

When my friends flew to Aruba, they packed just about everything since the prices are so high there. They even packed frozen meats, homemade spaghetti sauce and French bread! No problems!

I always pack that kind of stuff in a box and mail it to the resort with my name and check-in date on it.

We always get teased by TSA luggage agents as I bring a case of plastic sealed water when we don't have a car and use ME. I just tell them I don't feel like paying $4 a bottle for water when I get the entire case for that amount. It goes for free so the water comes as luggage. I just make sure that it is completed sealed.
