This is the first time traveling with DD8months, and I'm just trying to get a rough idea so I don't overpack or underpack way too much. How many diapers and wipes do you pack for a week long trip? How about changes of clothing? Do you think one bottle of sunblock is enough for her for the week?

We're taking our 7mth old in a few days. We'll be gone 7 days, so I multiplied 6 diaper changes a day times 7 days, and threw in a few extra just in case. For wipes, I'm taking a big bag of the Huggies. I think the sunblock is fine. I've got 7 outfits (but we'll have access to a washer/dryer) and 2 swimsuits. I'd be the first to tell you I tend to overpack, so if you have fewer items, you're fine!

P.S. She doesn't need 7 outfits, but I had a hard time picking out my favorite ones as it was!

When my DD was about your DD's age, we went on a cruise. I also packed about 6 diapers for each day and put an additional 10 or so in our carryon diaper bag for good measure.

As for clothes, I brought a lot (2 outfits per day) because DD was still spitting up at that age. Besides, their clothes are so small that it hardly added anything to the suitcase. One bottle of sunscreen should be plenty. Also bring a hat (their little scalps burn easily)and one of the sunscreen sticks for your DD's face.

For an 8 month old, definitely bring tylenol, Hyland's teeting tablets, and Oragel. At this age, you never know when they are going to pop a tooth. My poor DD popped FOUR teeth the week that we were on the cruise!!!!

If you are worried about overpacking, keep in mind that the Baby Care Centers carry most of the items that you would possibly need, but you will pay a big premium. Personally, I prefer to overpack and know that I have more than enough of the essentials.

We went with 8.5 mo old DS last Oct. As for sunscreen, we didn't go through a whole bottle with him in an entire summer! I don't know if your DC is on formula, but that's the one thing I underpacked. I had to buy from the baby centers and it is WAY expensive (as if formula is cheap anywhere). Diapers aren't a big sweat...they can be easily bought many places - most resorts have little packs in their sundry section of their stores. They are probably over-priced, but not as expensive as the formula gets.

I know we packed way too many clothes for DS last fall, but he had so many cute outfits and so little time to wear them!!! They are only so little for that long and they only have their first trip to Disney once, right? I wouldn't worry too much about over-packing their clothes since they are so small. A few extra outfits won't hurt. We brought way too many toys and stuffed animals etc. which DO take up alot of space. We wanted to keep DS entertained on the plane and the toys only do so much.

I am still scratching my head trying to think of how we will do things differently next month now that DS is 13 mos. We are trying to pack lighter but mostly because we had a real hectic airport scene so we are trying to avoid that.

Good luck!

Will you have access to or have a car?

What type of resort are you staying at? Does it have easy access to laundry?

I ask the above since that would impact my estimate of what to take

We won't have a car, but we're staying at BWV for 5 nights (after 2 nights at POFQ), so we will have a washer/dryer. Thank you so much for your tips!! Anyone else have any more suggestions?

Took my daughter for her first Disney trip at 6 months and now at 4 she's going on her 7th trip. Like everyone else here I always overpacked for her! Now she gets her own mid sized suitcase! (bedtime toys/books/crayons etc) Luckily we're out of the diaper and bottle stage so those things don't have to be packed anymore. Will still bring straw sippys as they are so much easier for her at the parks. Always have had washer/dryer to use also but like someone said with all the cute clothes it's hard to pick! Also with a little one you need the weather variety. Shorts/capri's/pants/long sleeves/short sleeves/sweater or jacket etc. I'd skip things like hats (unless you have matching ones) because there are wayyy too many cute ones to buy once you get there! Have to get her a little pair of Mickey or Minnie sunglasses :D One thing I found in regard to the sunscreen (having a hard time finding it this year so far) is I believe it's water babies(?) has little packs of sunscreen in a box so it was very easy to throw a few of those in a diaper bag or purse to carry with you vs the whole bottle. For a little one you can easily get a day at the parks worth out of one packet...but take 2 just incase. Also remember by taking xtra diapers and wipes along you won't be bringing those back. Making room for those cute things yo will be buying for her while there! :D

A Washer/Dryer - awesome! - that's half the battle right there!

One of the things I would consider depending on how much stuff you are packing is to take a nominal amount of diapers and wipes and have one of the internet/grocery delivery services deliver to your room the balance of what you need for the week - I would guess about 8 diapers per 24 hours and then the # of wipes would be dependent on how well formed your childs stool usually is etc - I think one of those pampers type tubs with one refill should be more than adequate

For sunblock, one bottle should more than do it for the week - they do sell sunblock all over the place at WDW - about $12.50 for the Spectra 3 Water Babies product

On the clothing side, with the washer and dryer you can really cut back on how much you take - just make sure you take enough different clothing types to account for potential weather (whether hotter or cooler than normal) and lots of things that block the sun especially from 10am-2pm

We would guess about 6 day outfits and 4 sleeper outfits would be more than enough

Enjoy your trip!

Cheers
