Packet Pick Up for Half Marathon

I'm doing my first WDW Half Marathon, so I need some advice on packet pickup. I was planning on being there Thursday at 10:00 a.m. and then the wife and I are going to Hollywood Studios. Is that the best time or should I wait until 7:30 p.m and go? I just don't want to waste time standing in line (yes, I know I'm at WDW! VBG) and miss out on park time. Hey, I'm a HUGE Rock N Roller coaster nut! Any help would be appreciated.

As a coach I am going to say do it in the middle of the day to get you off your feet for a while. It's not a great idea to over do it the day before the race.

Absent that, I would hit the expo early. It gives you the piece of mind knowing you got it out of the way and some time to adjust if you notice something out of order. Waiting til the last moments on Friday could leave you in a lurch.

Here's my advice, and a plan I've followed a number of times. If you are a RNR coaster fan, then go to DHS first thing Thursday morning. Get there for park opening, get on RNR, TOT, and Toy Story Mania. Then you have a choice, have lunch at DHS or go to the expo. There is a bus which takes you directly from DHS to the Expo. But get there Thursday. Don't wait until Friday. That's when the Expo can get pretty crowded.

They only issue here is that the DHS-WWoS bus is no longer there. The route changed up in 2010 to CBR/Pop - WWoS. You could walk or water shuttle to the Swan and then take a marathon bus. Or just take a bus to CBR or pop and then grab the marathon bus.

Charles, good pickup. I was not aware Disney has discontinued that service. I've used it the last 10 years, and was accustomed to recommending that route to the WWOS.

I agree, the easiest route would be to get to the Swan and take the bus from there. Thanks..........

We'll have a rental car so we might just go to Hollywood Studios, hit TOT, RRC, & Toy Story, eat lunch, and then get over to Wide World of Sports just to take a break. Thanks for all your help...the worst part of this mini is not knowing what to expect and how much time to allow for things. I do four mini marathons in the Indianapolis area and I've got those races down to a science in terms of when to leave home, where to park, when to get to my corrals, etc... This is all new and I don't like being a rookie. LOL But this board has eased my mind on a lot of things.
