When I appliqué, I loosen the tension on the upper thread so it's easier for the machine to pull it through to the back. Don't forget to adjust it back to the normal setting when you're ready to do other sewing.

BTW - I occasionally have problems with white bobbin thread showing through or where a line of stitching on black overlaps a light color stitching. I'll admit I "cheat" and use a fabric dye marker to make the light threads less noticeable. A sharpie marker might work, too. Shhhh don't tell anyone... it's a secret?

Just in case ya'll thought I was laying around all week while the kids were gone, I'll show off something I did. I have no idea if it will fit a human child, it's a panel of Marie I got from and then I shirred the back of the peasant blouse. Of course all the ruffles on the skirt took the longest because I refuse to learn how to use my ruffler. When Megan comes home I will see if it fits and then I plan on making another for the big give.

My daughter's crab outfit almost finished. I ran out out bias tape! I used the tension technique to ruffle it. Works like a charm!

Ireland LOVES camp. I decided to let her go to the springs, but she will NOT be going to the waterparks. I promised her that I would take her this summer...LOL. Hopefully she has short term memory loss...cause Mom in a bathingsuit, waddling around a water park, doesn't make a cute picture...LOL
Anyway, Lex would be having a great time at pre K if I remembered that it started next week and not last week...let's just say that she was a week early...Hey a girl can be punctual right...

Benita: Hang in there, girlie!! That baby will come, even if it doesn't feel like it will ever end!

I know the baby will come! I'm just getting impatient. Although I don't have the girls 4th of July dresses finished yet so I guess the baby had better wait until they are done! I'm doing the criss-cross dress from YCMT and so far the hardest part has been feeding the dang elastic through the back part of the halter! It is a total pain in the rear! The sewing part is fine, just feeding four pieces of elastic through is not easy!

Sorry to have been mostly absent this week but I have been going crazy getting ready for our beach trip. I don't have pics of all the customs yet and I still have one more to do tonight (we are leaving in the am) but I wanted to share this one because I love how it turned out. I will take lots of pics and post when i get back. By then I will have probably 100 pages to catch up on. It is only like 15 now. LOL Well here it is, I fell in love with this whale fabric at joanns. I am making russell a shark outfit to coordinate.

Oh I did notice someone's birthday!

I finally finished everything that I was going to make for my cousin's girlfriend's baby shower tomorrow.
I made two lacy white bonnets with pink ribbons.

A pretty pink floral swaddler blanket.

A cute size 3 mos A-Line dress based on CarlaC's pattern.

An adorable pair of Zebra PJs.

A little pink diaper cover.

And a cute size newborn size dress.

With the exception of the two dresses all of the patterns for these items came from Teresa's bookmarks. So Thank You Teresa for the bookmarks. I enjoyed making each one of these items. They were all so easy.

Wow, that is one lucky baby!!! Great job, they are all adorable ! I wish I'd known about those swaddlers when DD was a baby... she would have loved that!

My DS (6) had his first performance of their Alice in Wonderland play tonight! It was sooooo fun! Anyway, DD (4) wore her Alice dress. I did end up adding a pocket with the white rabbit on it (that way I can remove it if I want!). I was able to edit the design somewhat to have fewer overlapping stitches and the black outlines. I am much happier!

And for my DS I embellished the pocket on a store bought shirt with his (Disney-ized) character from the play - the five of diamonds...

And here they are after the show... DS was so proud to have "goodies" (flowers and balloons)
