With a little luck I can ship it to her tomorrow and she will have it for her bday!

GoofyG- Your DD is absolutely adorable- those dimples and her eyes!! OMG!!!

GREAT job on the dress- love the combo of colors.

Enjoy your little ones while you can- they grow up way too fast- and then they leave you and the only time they call you is when they need money!!! LOL!

Okay, here is last Friday's Walmart fabric find story. I must preface it by saing I loves me some polka dots!!!

SO I ran to Walmart to pick up some black with white polka dots to finish Dniece's WallE dress--that's it, that's all I needed :rotfl2: I strolled past the remnant bin and spotted HOT PINK MINNIE DOT!! :cool1: but they only had 20" :worried: so I ask if they have any more polka dot. The Walmart fabric lady told me she had a bunch on her $2 table. I asked if she had any more hot pink, she said no. Would they get any more in? No. Did other walmarts have it? No. She then in an very un-walmartish way proceeded to be chatty and informative :confused3 She said she talked her manager into ordering something to fill up her sparse $2 table and he reluctantly agreed, but it would be a one time deal. She personally picked out the polka dots. She ordered 4 bolts of each color, 1 large dot w/white dots on color, 1 large dot w/color dots on white, and the same in the small dots. By the time I got there most of the large white dots on colors was gone--they had even had red. And one of those blues would have worked for a retro Minnie skirt. :( I got a yard of nearly everything they had left, except the large red dots on white on the far right, I bought all they had of that. Now if you will notice the blue and yellow in the middle are perfect Donald Duck colors! I did get the reverse hot pink minnie dot and the teeny reverse hot pink minnie dot. It looks a little redder in the photos. IRL it is a good hot pink. I have no idea what I will do with any of this :rotfl: but it really made me happy.

Here's a quarter to show you the size. I wish I had gone to Walmart about a week earlier!

Those dresses are so cute. And that little one is too adorable.

Thanks:thumbsup2 I am still nervous about it but am going to get my machine this weekend. What did you start with that eased you into sewing? I want to jump in but don't want to drown.
I've got the Brother CS6000i, too. It's really easy to use and would be great for a beginner. I got mine for $50 from Teresa (and she paid $35 for it at Walmart, it was a floor model). I've seen them on clearance at WalMart for $80 recently.

Have some cute material for Disney in September. Now if he will just grow, that way the rompers will fit.

Best Wal-Mart fabric EVAH! If they would make that lady head of all fabric departments, they might actually make some money and keep them open.

Oh my gosh!!! He is absolutely adorable!!!!!!! Wow, what a little cutie pie!!

Hey, I think I'm wearing those same capris (as the adult in the picture) right now!! Do they roll up and you can button them on the side to make shorts? I love these pants, especially the comfy elastic waistband! :thumbsup2

Has anyone made anything with this Butterick Pattern?

B5020.jpg

I am making view C with the straps from View A -- I have finished the top and the skirt and I'm ready to put them together. But when I was pinning the two together for gathering, there isn't anything to gather in the back.:confused3 I read the back of the pattern and it says: Tops A, C, D and dress B have front princess seams, self-lined upper front, back elastic casing and gathered lower front. Is it saying that only the front is gathered and the back is not????

Another thing that has me confused about it is: if it is not gathered in the back then why does the picture of the back show some gathering?

B5020a.gif

Any advice?

I have that pattern, but I haven't tried making anything with it yet. It looks like the back has elastic in it. Does it? If it does, it probably isn't gathered, it just gets bunched up with the elastic.

Yes, those are the pants! Perfect for Disney!!!!

It does have back elastic, I hadn't thought about it being bunched up with that. I'm going to go sew it and see how it turns out.

Hi all! I had a long, busy weekend so I haven't had a chance to catch up with you all. But, I wanted to post pictures of Tessa's Buzz Lightyear dress that I made her to match Sawyer's Buzz Lightyear shirt. His birthday party was yesterday and it was a Toy Story theme. Here's some pictures:

Tessa picked out the green fabric, she's been bugging me to make her something green. This is Simplicity 2909.

Here's Sawyer's cake. I didn't get too imaginative with it this year.
6-22-08buzzcake.jpg

Here he is blowing out his candle. Actually, he was just blowing, he never did quite get it blown out, Armind had to help him along. I see in this picture he was already sampling the cake...no wonder no one seemed too anxious to eat it!

Here's the only picture I got of them together in their matching outfits. :sad2:

HAPPY BIRTHDAY SAWYER!!!:dance3: :bday: party: I love the matching outfits....Tessa looks so pretty in green... ::yes:: ....like all good Disers do! :lmao:

Here is what I made yesterday and today. It is for my friend's daughter. I am not feeling the love for it but I had a hard time finding a third fabric I liked so I did the patchwork tier. Oh well, I hope she doesn't hate it anyway. She is my best customer :rotfl: I think I'll throw in a free headband or something.

IMG_0754-1.jpg
Oh its just perfect....she will love it!!! :thumbsup2

Great job on the fabric find!!! Very nice fabric lady!!!! :goodvibes

So what do chickless eggs look like (I have no farm experience so excuse my ignorance!). Are there whites and yolks inside that just aren't fertilized? For some reason I am fascinated by these things but really don't understand them.

I don't know if all unfertilized eggs looked like ours but ours were just small empty eggs.

What size would you need? And when would you want to work on it?

I probably wouldn't work on it until end of July/beginning of August. If you have any ideas how to modify the normal costume...PLEASE let me know. I was trying to get her to be Lilo since that would be nice and cool OR Dorothy (since I already have that costume!!!) but I'm not winning out!

Look how athletic she is with her dress on!!!! Totally goes against my arguement to DD that you can't "play" in a dress (kid threw another fit this morning because I laid shorts out for her to wear to day care and not a dress!!!)

Here is DD4 in her dress, she wasn't happy that I took pictures of her sister and not her.
