Gorgeous! Absolutely stunning - Love every bit of it!!!!!

Just wanted to pop in and tell everyone hi. Will be in pretty much lurk mode for the next 2 weeks. Things have changed a lot in our lives in the last week. Which is gonna put me in lurk for the next few. I love everything you guys have posted. There were so many pages I was behind lol. Hoping I am back before you guys move on me again but if you do hopefully someone will come find me lol.

Anyway I had a good ending to a not so great day though I won 3 yards of this fabric. :)

Love that fabric, even if you stole it from T :rotfl:

Here's a couple of things that I finished today.

A Strawberry Shortcake pillowcase dress for a girl my sister works with -- it will be for her 2 yr. old niece. The hair bow is clipped to the side.
StrawberryShortcakedis.jpg

And I have been wanting to try some ribbon flip-flops forever and I finally broke down and did a pair. Not the ideal color I wanted but Old Navy only had silver/grey left.

Flipflopsdis.jpg

Now, these are not your ordinary ribbon flip flops. And forgive me if someone else has already done this but I do not recall ever seeing this anywhere.

Flipflopsdis2.jpg

I sewed snaps onto the ribbon for the flip-flop and then put the other side of the snap on the backside of the bow so that I could make them interchangeable. I wrapped the flip-flop in a creamy/white color so that it would be neutral with all the bows/outfits. I think these will look sooo cute with the pillowcase dresses that she has been wanting me to make since they have the ribbon ties but I just did not want to have to make all the colors she would want, so this idea popped into my head. The turqouise is the only color I have done so far but in the next few days I plan to do red, orange, black and pink.

Very cute! Love the SS and the flip flops!

Thanks for the compliments everyone!!!!!!!!!! :goodvibes

The stepsisters went CRAZY when they saw this outfit!!!!!!! It was hilarious!!!!!! They must have spent at least 10 minutes discussing her outfit. I was cracking up!!!!!! Definitely memorable!!!!!!!!!!

Love it all! But the stepsisters are great, and love the matching bows! You got some great pictures also. Thanks for sharing!

I got a Question for you guys. I haven't made anything strip ork and I ahd a ? about it.

Do you just take a bunch of 'strips' of material the same length and width and sew them together until the panel is the size you want and then add a hem and elastic?

When I'm making a skirt rather than a jumper I usually do that, but I sew them to a solid waistband piece and I usually do an underskirt, but it is not necessary.

Ta-Da!! I meant to post thes last night!! DD loves her new Snow White set!! LOTS of Pictures!!

So cute! I love it and I REALLY want an embroidery machine!!!!!

I'm off to clean my craft room :scared1: :scared1: :scared1: Where are you when I need you Karen? :worried:

Does anyone know where I could find a Minnie Mouse costume pattern for my 6yo GD? If I don't start sewing it soon it won't be ready for halloween.:)

You might be able to find one on ebay but you could just take any girl's dress pattern and make it "minnie." It's the dotted fabric that makes it minnie. I have simplicity #3857 and I think if you made it with the red fabric and white binding on the sleeves, it would look just like minnie:

3857.jpg

I cheated and just made a jumper:

Finding the fabric might be the tricky part. I have found it at Hancocks and I think Wal Mart gets it in sometimes with Halloween stuff. Good luck and HTH!

I usually do wedges. There is some math involved :teacher: Ok here goes. Say you are using 5 different fabrics, and have a waist measurement of 20 inches. I'm also assuming you will use 2 of each panel. so there will be 10 panels. I like 1 1/2 times the waist for the top of the skirt and 2 1/2 or 3 times that for the bottom. So the top piece will be about 30 inches and the bottom will be 75- 90 inches. The top of the fabric wedges will be 3 inches plus seam allowance, and the bottom will be 7 1/2 - 9 inches plus seam allowance. If it isn't a one way pattern on the fabric you can go along the fabric and measure 3 inches then mark then 9 inches then mark. On the top and bottom of the fabric. At the beginning you'll have to go in 3 inches then mark you're top 3 inches. Know what I mean?? Then line up the marks with a ruler then cut. The length would be whatever you want. I think lisazoe also wrote a tutorial and I'm pretty sure that is where I learned the "wedge technique" But I'm not sure where it is..... hmmmm maybe check the bookmarks if you need to. Hope this makes sense. Good Luck- It really isn't too hard I promise!!

Seriously amazing creations ladies!!! Wowza! I had to kinda skim the last 10 pages to catch up since I missed a day...this thread is quite a commitment to keep up with....:rotfl2: Did we get married or something??? :confused3 :rotfl:

Well, aren't you wondering why I had to catch up? Well I'll tell you anyways... ;) my girlfriend and I took the kids to Sesame Place in PA and had a blast. We had perfect weather and the girls got lots of compliments on their matching outfits. I must say they were easier to keep track of cause they matched! We did the dry rides in the AM, had lunch (picnic we brought), then went on the wet attractions, then changed and did a few more dry rides. By the end of the day 3 pm, they were TIRED OUT!!! We did manage a character picture at the end.:thumbsup2

I think it took me a whole week, but I didn't work on it everyday. Did notlove this pattern. It is a McCalls pattern and they seem to leave out important details. I don't love the way parts of it came together, but you can't see that in the pics.:thumbsup2

Sara bEth took off her glasses to get dresses and we always forget to put them back on for the first pic. After looking at the pics with her glasses on I realized they need to be cleaned.:rolleyes1

I do love the material and I think I have enough to make me a matching top! We will see. I have a simplicity pattern for me that matches this one.

Thanks! i will have to check out the tutorial! I did the ruffle one on UCMT today. I was going to make a ruffled something but now I am detoured. I went to Hancok fabric for the 1st time today and they had Buttirick patterns on sale for .99! So I got a pattern to make my niece a dress and my son found this cute Mickey, Donald Goofy surf fabric and found a bowling **** pattern her loves. So now i need to make My nieces dress, then I still promised my DD8 I would make her build a bear an outfit then my son gets his bowling shirt. I figured if I make it big enough he can wear it this summer and maybe wear it when we go to Chef Mickey's in Nov! See what this thread has done to me! :confused3 :rotfl2:

It looks great! Love the Pooh fabric. It will make a really cute shirt for you!

I keep forgetting this because your appliques are so good!

Awww...thanks! I never would have tried this on my other machine!! I got a new Kenmore for mothers day and I love it!

I LOVE IT! So worth the wait! I really want to try my hand at applique. You may have inspired me! You said you started sewing a year ago? WOW! :worship:

Thanks so much!!! Yep, I just started sewing last summer - with the help of quite a few Disers! I think I started in late July. So it's almost been a year for me!

Hey ladies (and Tom)!! I updated my Trip Report!

Yay...some good reading for tonight!!! Hey does anyone else's DisBoards look weird tonight...I might restart my computer. The screen is gigantic so i have to keep rolling over to read anything...and you can see all the pixels in the smilies??? Is it my computer????

I need some advice!

I am making a little einstein dress using CarlaC stripwork pattern. I am using these 2 fabrics:
2008_0403Image0001.jpg

Which of these 2 should I use for the other strips?
2008_0718Image0001.jpg

I also went to Hancocks...I am in trouble! and got some different Wall-e fabric than I got last week, which will work for the bodice..
2008_0718Image0002.jpg

I also picked up the Nemo story book. I was wondering if anyone out there would trade the storybook for 1 of 2 things...either a mickey mouse storybook or a 101 dalmation pillowcase (new).

I like the stars and the red dots with the Little Einsteins.

I picked up the same Wall-e fabric and some of the coordinating lime green, I can't wait to get working on the outfit. Delaney is NUTS about Wall-e so I guess we're going to have to see it when it comes out or she'll just bust.
