I haven't posted much because I've been pretty busy w/orders but this is my latest petti. It's called a Petite Petti, and this one was made for a customer who wanted something special for her little one to wear when she meets Cinderella.

Super cute!

Been cleaning out my stash to see what all I have to work with and trying to get everything with what it goes to. I am in the middle of working on an outfit for mysel -- got the shirt cut out and now I can start sewing it.

My mom has situs inversus and hearing about Riley's organs reminded me of this. Anyways....my mom had an episode like you are describing a few years ago, she was just in pain all around her midsection (mostly her back I think) and all she could was lay in the floor and try to crawl to get the phone. They found out that her potassium was waaaaay too high. They also later discovered that her gall bladder had "died" and where it was laying it was starting to get diseased and effect her other organs. The reason I even say this is b/c I have read other people telling you that some of their levels for certain things were too high but not potassium. She was really sick for a while but adding to her problems was super high blood pressure (which she has always had) but after they removed her gall bladder, she was fine (except for the blood pressure). I so hope that you can get someone to listen to you and Riley can get some much needed relief.

Thank you so much! I am adding all of these suggestions to my list of questions for the doctor. I know it drives him crazy, but if he isn't going to look for anything I am!

I would go in their armed with everything I had and don't let him leave until he hears you out.

I know a lot of doctors brush it off but a momma knows sometimes. I just had a friend of mine recount her sons story about his diabetes. He kept being sick all the time and was constantly wanting something to drink. She would take him into the the ped. office after vomitting a lot and the doctor would tell her there was nothing wrong with him and prescribe some phenergyn (sp?). This kept on and then others were telling her that it sounded like he might be diabetic, when she would ask the doctor, he would say it wasn't. She asked him to perform a simple blood test to rule it out and he wouldn't do it b/c he said he was certain that it wasn't diabetes. The little boy got sick again one night, she called the doctor and he said not to worry that the little boy would be fine tomorrow. She went in later to check on him and he was unresponsive and barely breathing. She rushed him to the hospital and he was in a diabetic coma with his organs shutting down. He wasn't in the ER more than 30 minutes when the doctors told them that and he had to be medflighted to a hospital 2 hours away and hoping he would live to get there. The little boy is a diabetic and has to give himself shots 3 times a day now. To this day, that doctor has not returned my friends phone call. A momma knows!

Here are lots of photos from our 4th. We had a BBQ at my sister's house with her family, my other sister and her family, my nephew and his new wife, and another nephew, his wife and 3 kids. We did fireworks there also and I just have to say    because I was worried our puppy would be scared of fireworks but she was totally fine and happy! I made Lily's dress, Jayden's shirt, Luke's shorts, and Seth's guitar applique shirt.

They all look adorable but especially love this one

It reminds me alot of my forth:

:lmao: It's matching lukes!!!!
I did do a quick applique on the shirt. I didn't use stabilizer but I went slow and it looked fine. I didn't want it to be itchy inside and I didn't have time to wash it to make it unitchy.

How cute!

You guys have inspired me to TRY and teach myself to sew (my mom is great at it so I do have help available). What would be a great starter sewing machine that doesn't cost a lot?? I'd love any suggestions you can give.
Thanks!!
Amanda
YAY! I'm glad you're going to give it a shot! I have a Brother CS6000 and I LOVE it! I've seen them on clearance at Walmart recently for about $80, but regular price is more like $180, I believe. It's a great machine, though!

Oh my gosh, Renee!! I LOOOVE that fabric!! SO cute! It reminds me of the mural in Sawyer's room because it has lots of little lizards in it. The outfit is SOOO cute and so is your DD! MMMMM....cheese!

Oh my gosh, how cute!!! I'm glad to see you haven't cut his hair yet! :thumbsup2 I love his shorts, so cute! You guys have me wishing I would have made some of these for Sawyer. Where did you get the fabric?

Sophia looks absolutely darling! Thank you for the fireworks pictures. I didn't get to see any because Henry was working and I didn't want to take the kids by myself.

THAT is awful! Did this mom seek legal advice? I would be very, very tempted to do so!

I don't believe so. She has a lot of stuff on her plate right now (her mom has been in the hospital for nearly 2 months and wasn't suppose to come home but is now home to die). When her head clears some, she may look in to it.

Another lurker (sorry "window shopper" ;) ) here checking in.

I've been admiring everyone's creativity and talent for some time now!

So......once my post count gets up, I'll post pics of the patchwork twirl skirts I'm making. I adhere to the "slow and steady wins the race" school of thought when it comes to sewing. Some Home Dec in a Sec curatins took me three days!

Adding to my time-issues, is the fact that I have 4 daughters and if you make something for one....you know how it is. And believe me, it's a slippery slope! They think I can make anything! I think I'm gonna ride that wave for as long as I can though.

So thanks everyone for all the answers to questions you didn't even know I had! :goodvibes

PS ~ A big :worship: to whoever maintains the bookmarks (Heather?) I LOVE them!:thumbsup2

WOW!!! Four girls...you'll be sewing non stop, lol. How old are your girls?
Can't wait to see your skirts. I need to at least start some sketching for whatever I'm going to be making but I still have quite a bit of time before I need to actually do any sewing.

What are you looking for? Maybe I can help you find it.
That would be wonderful! I am looking for the Mickey shiloette( sp?) head. Like the one on your shirt in your new sig. FYI love the new pics in your sig!

Michael will be 7 in 2 months and I think he only weighs about 45lbs. He is a skinny stick!
That isn't too bad Nik was 2 months shy of 8 when she was barely 45lbs she was really sickly looking looking back on the pics. Then you have my moose of a son who is and has almost always weighed more then his sister. At almost 6 he already weighs 54lbs!

You know the worst thing about the food is dealing with people who think that I am just being a psycho about it. I am really not! I allow Riley to go to friends houses knowing full well that she may eat something that she doesn't know isn't "safe". She knows the obvious, koolaid, soda, candy, but there are lots of things that she may eat and think are o.k. I know that I can never make it 100% but I try my best. I let her have a gatoraide on memorial day and the next day she was sick again. I am thinking that we just need to be "extra" cautious until her body can settle back down from this flare up and then we can go back to just being "pretty" cautious.

It is funny though that now we have cut out so much, when we do try to "cheat" we all get pretty sick. I am really worried about our Disney trip in January. We really love our Disney treats!

I hear you! What I do is I talk to the moms before I have her go to a friends house. or send food with her so she at least can have something she knows is safe. when school started last yr I had to talk to her new teacher and the principal and the nurse about keeping her safe in school. Her teacher was great at back to school night she even mentioned that she had food issues and to please let her know if they were bringing in treats for the class so I could make arrangements so Nik had something safe to eat. then I also kept some safe food with the teacher just incase there was a surprise treat.

Some one posted having her check for an auto immune issue that is a good idea and it can't hurt. Nik's isn't actually an allergy it is an auto immune disease. Since most people don't understand auto immune diseases we just say allergy so people can relate. With Nik have to be very careful and we can't cheat because cheating for her can cause permanent damage to her intestine. It also can cause a host of other issues so i have to be really strict. Thankfully she is so good about it. She Poor kid from what I can tell never knew what it was like to feel good and NOt have a tummy ache and a solid stool. (sorry for too much info but it is the truth...)

I sure hope Riley feels better real soon!

The fabric is from Joann's. It is like $14.99 a yard but I got it on sale! :thumbsup2

And I happen to have heard a rumor that Spongie and Utahmama just might be going to Disneyland the same time as I am so I'm hoping to see them on here whipping up some customs!!!!

Hi Ladies (and Gent)
I'm back from Maine. We had a lovely time relaxing at the beach and enjoying seafood! And now I'm back and caught up. Beautiful work over the past few days! Hope everyone had a great 4th!

Grandma update:

SHE'S HOME!!!
I called her at the hospital this morning to see when I should come up and see her and she said they were going to release her at 1:00. She said she's felt better than she has in months. This has probably been coming on for a while and getting all of that fluid out has really helped her feel better. Yay!! Now all I need to do is walk next door to see her, instead of driving 40 minutes to the hospital!

I was thinking autoimmune when you mention that she has "flare ups". There are SOO many autoimmune diseases out there, so it would be hard for them to test her for all of them. But, they might be able to take her symptoms and narrow it down a little.

YEAH!  I am so happy to hear she is home!

Auto immune diseases are awful! I know with Celiac it takes an average of 10 yrs in the US to dx it and most drs have no clue what you are talking about if you mention it. I got so lucky with Nikki being dx'd! i convinced my mom to get tested since it tends to run in families whe she asked her dr for the Celiac blood work he had to actually look up what Celaic was! :scared1:

I went through something like this myself about 3 yrs ago. To give you a little background, my urine screens were abnormal through my whole pregnancy and I had horrible morning sickness the whole time. I had a complete hormone crash right after the pregnancy. 48 hrs after they sent me home I was in the dr's office and all my levels were wacko. It took 2 months to straighten me out and I was fine for 3 months. then I started having the writhing on the floor abdominal pain you are describing only my wrapped all the way around into my back and I would have back spasms too. I went through 3 different diagnosis gall stones, bladder infection, pssible kidney stone untill the internist they sent me to had me do a food diray. It was an overload of vitamin A from all the raw spinach I was eating. I was eating salad trying to diet and they were predominantly raw spinach. I don't eat dark green leafy veg and it took about a month to stop alltogether. If I eat a spinach salad I get sick still, but nit nearly like it was. I say all this to say that my primary care doctor was CONVINCED I had post pardum depression and it was all in my head, that I was making myself sick for attention. I uderstand your fustratiuon and will be praying for you. Keep going to doctors untill you find one that will help your child. It took me six months to find one that would listen to me!!!
OMg what an ordeal! I am so happy they figured it out. Glad you are feeling better.

Thank you so much! I am adding all of these suggestions to my list of questions for the doctor. I know it drives him crazy, but if he isn't going to look for anything I am!

I went to bed thinking about your daughter. What about an allergy to the colored dyes in the food.. I have a friend that has an allergy and you would be surprised how much of that is in processed foods... also I would make a huge lsit of things to test for....Find out what your insurance will cover for standard tests from dr.s ... IF the dr says no on some of them and if they are covered by insurance, I do not see why he would not indulge your instincts!!!! That may be a tool to help you in getting him to do the tests!

So sweet! Great material! A skirt would be so cute!

That is crazy. I am 100% positive that her pain is real. I am calling first thing in the morning to get the test to see if her new meds are working moved up. I need the to understand the urgency. She needs to be straightened out before school starts. I need to know asap if we need to schedule an out of town trip to another doc.

Honestly though! Postpartum depresion that gives you bladder infections. That's a very crazy diagnosis! I always tease Riley about "faking another positive culture for an infection." We try to laugh about it because if we don't we'll cry!

I have no doubt her pain is 100% really I feel guilt with Nikki that I didn't get her checked sooner when she complained about her tummy.

They've looked at her from every angle! I'll ask specifically if they have looked at her disks.

I sometimes think that her body just doesn't work right because of how caddywompus everything is. She had a 4 lb. tumor that was the size of a football removed when she was 6 1/2 weeks old. When they took the tumor and most of her liver her organs shifted inside her body. Her intestines are where her liver should be, her liver just grew around everything so it's a weird shape, her kidneys shifted so far that everytime she gets a sonogram the lady freaks out because she can't find them! We honestly have a hard time even finding docs that will take her as a patient. Her ped. urologist just happens to be in the same group as the surgeon who initially operated on her.

Riley has been through far to much in her little life! Next time she has to have blood work it can't hurt to mention wanting a full Celiac screening. I am such an advocate of this for everyone after Nik was dx'd. I always say it can't hurt.

Poor girl... I am sure you have, but have you had a total body panel and workup done in a children's hopital. Sometimes a fresh eye and approach works wonders. We love our Children's Hospital. just as a little story about a new approach... My son has a congenital problem that is corrected with a pill everyday for the rest of his life... but the pill can make regular symptoms and make them a problem... his immune system is not 100%, well so he was having a skin problem that was not going away with over the counter stuff... we went to an everyday dermatologist... she said oh that's not exema, just a mild skin rash.. gave us some topical mild cream and sent us home.. 2 weeks later it is getting worse, we go for our every 3 month appt to the endocrin dr.. he was shocked. he works in the children's hospital sent us straight to the ped. derm dr. that day and yeah they gave us a high dose of steriod creme.. and within 2 weeks it was all gone and we have a treatment plan for his skin etc... If I had listened to the first dr, he would have suffered longer... So I now know if the info does not sound right or there is not a good outcome on treatment.. seek elsewhere!!!!
How many dr's have you seen... sometimes a fresh approach is what you need.

Lori

You are so right sometimes a fresh look is all it takes. How is your son feeling?

My mom gave Nikki her petti skirt this weekend and now she wants me to make her one:scared1:

LISA: Excellent little pettis!
I wanted something special for Lily to meet Cinderella too. She is her most favorite. BUT it is going to be so hot when we go I couldn't stand to put her in anything too fancy. Plus I need to find a decent Cinderella pattern. BUT I am going to make her a Cindy storybook twirl for our lunch @ Akershush.

The lunch I am now torn about. B/C we planned this trip so late our ressies for the princess lunch are @ 1:25. My family is hanging out by the pool that day and wanted to have dinner. Ohana couldn't seat us till 9:15 which was no good b/c they have to drive almost 2 hours to go home (we're staying another night) So I had her check Whispering Canyon Cafe and the best time they had for us was 5:00. Is that WAY too close to our lunch ressie? Should I just cancel it and let her have lunch w/ the princesses or do 1900 PF in Oct? I hate to blow off my family. BUT it is her birthday.

Well, Good morning Disboutiquer's what have you got to share w/ us today???

what cute pics! Thanks for the fireworks.

Here are some pics from our 4th weekend. We went to a glass blowing exhibit at The Science and Industry museum in Chicago and into Navy pier. Then yesterday my parents left and When we got home DH a blew up the kids new slide.

It is so hard on my kids when Mema and Pa leave. Probably because they get so darn spoiled when they are here. Nikki got to go to American Girl and pick out a new friend. and Kyle got to make a remote control car at Ride Makrez. I would be sad when my Christmas in July ended too!:rotfl2:

Today I am off to cut out some pieces for my best friends kids shirts for our trip. I hated the pattern for bowling shirts I had so i took a shirt that Kyle just got and used construction paper and made my won pattern! I so hope it works! We shall see!

Love the pettiskirt... we have that same one.. I just adore them!! Totally cute!!!

Lori

Thanks. She loved it my mom and i actually joked all day that she now sashes when she walks just to feel the twirl of it. Imagine her doing this at a glass blowing exhibt:scared1: Silly mommy letting her wear it to a museum:rotfl: Though she was stopped every few minutes with people asking us where we got it and telling her how cute she looked. Of course my nikki eats all that attention up big time so by the time we left her head was to big to fit through the door way:lmao:
