Did a quote on the Disney website for DL packages:

Ha a quote of approx $1850 for:

8 nights at the Candy Cane Inn (2 adults and 1 infant) (October)
5 day PH
5 day meal plan
tickets for Knotts, SW, San Diago Zoo and a LA tour (including transportation to these places)

Is this a good deal? Or would it be better to get a hotel thru Expedia and buy the tickets seperate?

The packages through Disney all include two pass days free and the unlimited fast pass feature, which are great benefits. You could book the CCI on your own and buy passes separately but you would have to also book your tours on your own and you could not get the dining plan.

Disney is currently offering a 4th night free at the Disney hotels and select Good Neighbor Hotels but that will end before October. They MAY offer another fall package, though, in which case that would be a better deal. The Candy Cane Inn is not typically offered with the special promotions, though.
