Hi

Just wondering if anyone has had a package delivered to your hotel room.

Thinking about trying to safe the carriage to the UK and of course I would pay the duty on return to the UK. ;)

David.

I do this every year as it saves a fortune on carriage and duty costs. Mainly outdoor gear like boots and clothes so heavy items which would cost a lot.

You need to contact the people you're buying from befor you go as they sometimes do security checks which involve taking a small amount from your credit card, then you calling them to tell them how much has been taken so that they know it's you. Obviously this wouldn't be very easy from a hotel room so check first. One company did the checks while i was in the UK and started me an account with them.

You also need to get a guaranteed postal service. Free postage given on the sites is usually the lowest available, our equivalent of second class, so I wouldn't take the chance of it crawling to my hotel.

Check with the hotel that they are happy to do it and get the full postal address inc zip code.

It involves a lot of preparation but does save a lot in the long run.

Thanks Graeme, will give it a try next week.

David
