Fantasmic is a shell of it’s former self ☹️

I said in the other Fantasmic thread that maybe for locals the show has gotten stale. For someone who only sees it every few years, it's still a great show when it's all working. I miss the dragon but it was still a very enjoyable experience. My wife enjoyed it a lot more than World of Color. They could freshen it up some with new characters or scenes but nostalgia is a big part of the show. I was glad that Peter Pan was back and they ditched the Captain Jack portion.

What I want separately is a meet and greet with Steamboat Willie.
As a local, Fantasmic is still extremely enjoyable without the dragon—if the pyro is in place. Without it, the show is very slow and there are parts of the show that seem very slow/weird/like something is missing (which it is).

Fully agree! It was so odd seeing Mickey wave his hands with nothing happening in the show without pyro.

True, but at least the show at Hollywood Studios has had some recent revamps and plus-ups. It still has the dragon too, however it was never quite as good as the Disneyland one. Honestly, I became disappointed in DL's Fantasmic when they retooled some of the music a while back - it just didn't hit right (this was when they retooled to add the POTC scene, which I think is now back to the Peter Pan scene). I know it's sacrilege, but I've pretty much always liked the WDW version better - better set, better seating. Then again, I've seen Tokyo's version of Fantasmic! (no longer running), and it, not surprisingly, blew the others away!
Yes, but you have to be able to see it to enjoy it!! Our last trip to WDW (we can only go in the summer) the first night it was cancelled entirely due to weather and the second night we got maybe halfway through before the lightening rolled in and it was again cancelled, only this time we were absolutely drenched by the time we were able to exit.

Plus watching the ships and floats enter around Tom Sawyer's Island (yes, I'm old) gives goosebumps like nothing will on a stage. I actually teared up the first time I saw it post-Covid.

Oh dang it, now I am torn! I was going to add a one park ticket to the Sunday of our trip so my nieces could see Fantasmic and do a dining package...tickets in December are not cheap, so now I am feeling conflicted. My oldest niece has seen Fantasmic but a long long while ago and her daughter has not...this is her second trip. Help, what should I do?
