Package worth it?

We are trying to decide between "room only" and a package.

I believe one of the perks is priortity seating at the shows. How big of a deal is that?

Are there other perks that are really helpful?

We have not been to DLR since 1989 so we are really unsure if the perks make that much of a difference.

Thanks for your help!

Need more details. What shows, and what discounts? Is it for summer or off season? Which hotel?

If the package costs more, (which they usually do), then imo NO!! There is plenty of good seating for Aladdin. And you still have to show up early also for the priority seating, so it doesn't save you time.

The other thing possibly of value that comes with a package is Toon Town Morning Madness. I personally do not think this is worth extra cost. You get to see plenty of characters in the park, and can visit Toon Town anytime for free.

Now if the package didn't cost more, then sure, these things would be fine. But I have priced out packages that cost a couple to a few hundred more than room only, so no way would I pay that much more for the little perks that come with a package!!

We will be going the first week of June. Yes, the package is about $300.00 more than the "room only" cost at both of the hotels we priced (one on property and one off).

Thanks for your insights.

Nope it's not worth it. If you really want to get those PS perks you can stop in the WDTC in DTD and buy the Passport Plus booklet for $10/person and it'll include the PS tickets and Tootown Morning Madness passes, plus a landyard and pin.

The two things that came with our package that made it totally worth it were:

Premium Character Dinning - would have cost us $176. We were planning on doing Goofy's Kitchen anyway and by purchasing the package we got all those other little extras, too.

MM - We were there during Spring Break Week and it was crazy busy so that extra/early hour was GREAT!!! We followed the MM Superthread tips and had a blast that first hour of our trip.

The only thing about doing a package through Disney that is a good perk for us is that you can make payments. I usually book well in advance and make small payments on it till its paid off. We find this really helpful for us because the cost of a Disneyland trip is alot and this way it doesnt seem to hurt the pocketbook as much. :)
If I were planning a trip in June I would definately book seperately. Have lots of fun!

Hold on ~ you got the character meal because you booked through Costco *and that is a nice perk. The MM ~ well anyone staying onsite gets those whether they book room only or package *and those who stay off site get 1 *usually* with a 3 day or more hopper.

I did not think the Passport Plus booklet was offered any longer?

My parents used to ALWAYS get the packages. Then a few years ago we sat down and looked over everything and realized that it was better to do things seperately. Less money and basically the EXACT same experience.

Oh that is good info! So on my list for our October trip!

Our Costco package came out within a couple dollars of booking individually once you factored in the character meal (which we were doing anyway) and the $20 gift card.

We also get priority seating, lanyards and pins, luggage tags and not to have to stand in line to buy tickets. It is a nice set of perks but if the dollars on the big things hadn't worked out we would not have paid for these.

Wow! I had no idea about this! We may have to do this for DD's 7th b-day! What is WDTC?
