Package Pricing for Solos?

I always book Room-Only and buy my park tickets separately, but in my quest to save money I also limit myself to only one or two days in the parks - on my last trip, I stayed out of the parks entirely! I'm considering a package for my next solo trip to force myself into the parks, and maybe the Dining Plan as well. However, the package pricing is based on *Double* occupancy, so I wondered how any other solos might have dealt with this. Is there a surcharge or other penalty? (Obviously, if so, I'll keep booking Room-Only!)

Basically for a package they take the room price and divide it by two, then add tickets(and dining) and may give a small discount. That is the determination of the price per person, based on double occupancy.

If you are going solo, they take the full room price, add tickets (and dining), and may give a small discount.

Exactly. I go solo all the time and thats what it works out to. Dreamsunlimited was fabulous for me pricewise on my coming trip so be sure to check there at least for comparrison.

If you want to save money, sign up for the Mousesavers.com newsletter and get a Disney Visa card. I used the last Visa code(there is usually one with and without dining)which gave me a great package deal. Mousesavers will give you the heads up when the discount comes out.

Thanks, everyone. I've been subscribed to Mousesavers as well as using DU for years - and wouldn't even consider any other travel agency! :) I'm not going for my April pilgrimage this year :( , so I have time to research and plan this one out, anyway.

I found that package prices were higher from a TA since it is booked per person. When I booked directly through Disney, the price was MUCH lower because they book per room.

My past 2 solo trips I booked package specials with Disney Travel.
I did free dining in Sept and free upgraded tickets to hoppers plus water parks in April. I usually stay in a value and it is not to expensive.

If your dates are flexable you can shop around and wait for WDW to release package specials.

I might be going in May solo, so I went out the Disney web site to obtain a quote. Selected Pop Century with dining and included 5-day park hopper, I thought the quote was very reasonable (a little over $900). But I'm still searching through other TAs
