Package or room only?

What is the advantage of getting the package deal over getting a room-only reservation and then buying tickets separately? If you get a package, I think you have to pay for park tickets for each day of your stay, correct? We plan on relaxing at the resorts for one or two days, so would it be smarter for us to by the MYW tickets for only the days we'll be there?

I have reserved room only for April of 2008, but I keep hearing about people waiting until the package rates come out. Do you get any other perks with the package?

Sorry if this is a dumb question! I'm still new here!

actually, when you book a package, your tickets can be of any length/options (they just have to be the same for everyone).

so to answer your question, any financial differences you might find (e.g., buying the tickets from a reseller at a small discount) are somewhat negligible. What a package does get you though is:

- convenient one step shopping
- the ability to purchase the Disney Dining Plan
- additional perks such as vouchers for activities around the world and keepsake luggage tags
- those booking packages with AAA also get diamond lot parking access and a storytellers session with a disney character, in addition to the AAA discount on the room portion (discount is available as a room-only from anyone, but packages must be booked through AAA for it)
