which is better??
Could you please tell me your experiences with this? The good and the bad!!

We are staying at POR if that makes a difference.

How is package pick up in the parks? Is it a mad house??

Thanks!
Kimba

We used (resort) package delivery on our last two trips at Animal Kingdom Lodge & Beach Club. Worked great everytime! Very nice not to have to carry packages around. Our package was always at the resort gift shop the next day.

We've never used the front gate pick-up as we always stay on-site.

Once we got home we found a security ink-tag on the hat/shirt combination that my mom had gotten for a christmas gift for my DH. Being that it was a gift and Christmas was still 10 days away, we never looked it over and discovered it only when we were back in Texas. For some reason it never triggered their security systems. Had to break it off which of course got ink everywhere!! Check your stuff before you leave with it. We never considered that. We were at POR. Nice to pick the stuff up in the gift shop.
Loved POR!!!:)

If you are staying Club Level, they deliver it to your room the next day. You just come back and find it on a dresser or the bed. :cloud9: It is the only thing I miss after giving up on Disney's club level service.

Picking up in the gift shop when the gift shop isn't busy isn't much of a problem - although sometimes it takes them a while to find the bag.

I don't pick up in the parks. If that's my only option, I either don't buy it or ship it home. I don't want to find out how good/bad it is. :)

I don't remember the exact time frame, but if you're leaving to go home within the next day then you can't do the package pickup at the resort. But, it is nice if you still have days left on your vacation.

I remember when the package delivery used to be to your room every night. That was NICE.

Love having packages delivered to the resort.:thumbsup2 On our second to last day one trip we shopped and did front of the park pick-up. We will try to never do that again. Long line and it took forever. :sad2:

package delivery all the way :thumbsup2 the package pick up system is a nightmare:scared1: we did that at both MK and MGM one year and ended up in a que at MK for 75 minutes. Take "normal" rudeness, line-cutting, and poor etiquette and multiply it 10-fold--that's what you get at the end of a long day waiting in line. The package pick up concept is good--it's the volume that makes it something to avoid at all costs. WDW--Here we come June 15:cool1:

Oh for the good old days when the delivered it to your room and when you got back the next day it was there. We were there May 9 through 13 and my wife forgot to pick hers up on our last night and she realized it when we got home. Fortunately she called the hotel (Allstar Music) and they just shipped it to us. Cost $15 but was worth it to get her stuff.

Hotel delivery is GREAT! It's just one of those perks that makes Disney so special. Of course, I walk around the park the rest of the day feeling like I forgot something but it is nice to just be able to pick it up at your resort the next day.

Another great thing we did was have ALL our gifts shipped home at the end of our trip. We just brought all of our bags down and were able to ship a HUGE box of things we bought for a flat fee of only $15!! And it's so fun to get a nice package from Disney after you've gotten home.

If I recall...

If you buy something at Disney and opt to have it shipped back home you don't pay sales tax instead you just pay the shipping charges.

This is a great thing to think about if you plan on buying a lot or something big. Last time we were there, we stayed off site and did the package pickup at the gate (I didn't think it was bad at all). Then we had our conceirge at the hotel ship the stuff home (I wasn't about to try to bring 4 large snow globes on the plane).

This time if we buy anything, like art, snow globes, etc, that won't fit in the luggage well (we have a cruise right after the Disney vacation) I'm going to opt to have them ship it direct.

I did package pick-up at Epcot and didn't find it bad at all. We had purchased some things for the kids and they didn't want to wait until the next day to play with their new toys. If you do park pick-up make sure that you don't go when everyone is leaving the parks (after shows/fireworks). We didn't watch the fireworks that night, so there was no line to pick up our stuff.
