Packable Meals in Suitcase....any suggestions?

I like wegoshop. They will shop wherever you like. We would have them go to Super Target and pick up stuff like sunscreen in addition to food items. For a 4-night trip, though, I don't know that it would be worth it.

If I were filling a checked bag with food, I would consider: fruit that won't squish, oatmeal packets, pop-tarts, peanut butter, jelly, bread, granola/cereal bars, individual boxes of cereal, maybe tuna packets.

Then I would buy stuff to round it out--milk, juice, eggs. I would probably just buy from the camp store--it's pricier, but you won't pay delivery, and it's only for a few nights.

Don't know how long of a flight you have.....but, in our earlier days as DVC members...early 2000's (when our kids were younger...and then, our grandson) we frequently cooked quite a few meals in our DVC unit.....sometimes we used Garden Grocer for fresh items....sometimes we rented a car and did grocery shopping ourselves....BUT....my carryon was ALWAYS a Thermos insulated soft side cooler (about 16 x 11 x 9). In that cooler were the precooked FROZEN ingredients for several meals.....things like precooked/and then frozen boneless chicken, crumbled ground beef, meatloaf, meatballs (most often I wouldn't take my sauce since I didn't want to chance a slight thaw and TSA would consider it liquid...so I would make do with jarred sauce from the grocery). Since these items were already precooked it was easy to put together things like tacos, chicken cacciatore, sloppy joes, meatball subs, etc. I was very careful not to pack anything that could thaw and become a liquid and never had a problem getting thru airport security. We have a 2 hr drive to the airport, always arrived 2 hrs before our flight and have a 2 hr nonstop flight, plus the drive from MCO to the resorts....so usually about 7 1/2 hrs until we arrived at Disney.......everything was usually still frozen when we arrived.....my cooler was rated for 24 hrs cold. We don't do that quite as much these days since it's only the two of us now, but, I do occasionally take some items in my cooler.
I have done similar several times. DD was in a body building competition one year a month after our Disney trip and was on a very strict diet. I cooked and froze chicken breast and fish and packed fresh veggies bought the night before we left. Very doable for a 4 day trip. If it were a week long trip I would do the same, eating the perishables first then buying canned fruit/veggies for the last few days. We have done it mainly for health reasons but whatever the reason I would pre-prepare as much as possible at home. We fly Southwest and they allow 2 free checked bags per person so it's really a no brainer for saving money.

- pack raisins, craisins, bananas, apples, goldfish, granola bars, instant oatmeal, pancake mix (and maybe a spatula?), dry cereal, muffins, pasta, loaf of bread, tomato soup, maybe bacon

- at resort store pick up: cream cheese, butter, milk, cheese, tomato sauce (you could pack this if you found a can!), eggs, maybe breakfast sausage

- if you want - you can pick up a steak at most resort grocery areas when the resorts have kitchens/grills. This might be a good compliment to grilled cheese etc. you can also send someone to get a meal at trails end for one person that can be shared/complimented by items bringing from home to help add protein or veggies.

- grilled cheese (with tomato soup or steak or chicken etc)
- pasta with sauce (is there a way to get meatballs at the food court?)
- we would have breakfast for lunch one day - pancakes, eggs, bacon etc
- we would order pizza delivery (but ask at the front desk where to get it from - don't trust the flyers on the door!)(we don't usually eat pizza in the parks as there are other choices)

Have a great trip! With 4 nights and check in/checkout, you only have 3 lunches - so I think you have it covered! I would not spend money on the trip to the grocery store - it takes time and money!

We also get cases of water at the resort store - 24 - 12oz bottles for $6.50 or so. It's so easy - and very affordable and doesn't require me to order ahead of time!

Have a great trip!

I totally forgot to include peanut butter and jelly sandwiches as an option! We had PB on toast and bagels for breakfast more than lunch but it certainly works!

What about...

- cans of soup
- ramen noodles
- jars of pasta sauce and dry pasta
- shelf stable milk
- beef jerky
- bagels/bread and pbj/nutella
- pre-cooked hard boiled eggs (packed with dry ice in the suitcase?)
- canned meat/tuna
- sidekicks/Uncle Ben type meals
