Pack Magic Bands or Carry on Plane?

Silly question, but will it be a problem to take my Magic Bands in my carry on bag? My husband says to just throw them in our checked luggage, but I am afraid they will get taken...paranoid, I know. I'd hate to go through the hassle of replacing them when we check in.:)

Yup.

Another reason that the "new system" is not necessarily an "improvement."

How many MagicBands are going to be left at home, be stuck in luggage that is not readily accessible upon check-in or lost (or stolen) in transport?
They can't just be slipped into a wallet.

Not necessarily a BIG deal... except that it WILL happen to many guests.

I would say put them in your carry-ons because if you are using magical express you may not get your luggage for 3 to 4 hours after you arrive

They are your magical express tickets too, so you need them. It's not like they're large and inconvenient to put in your carry on.

going right in my camera backpack with all my other impt stuff like chargers, cameras and lens. those are the things you need on a trip! you can buy a toothbrush and cloths! lol priorities, priorities. . .

We had our Magic Bands shipped to our Resort so we can just get them on check-in.
We were still able to customize them and add all of our dining ressies and FastPass+ options. They will be at the front desk when we arrive.

We didn't want the hassle of worrying about packing them or even possibly forgetting them.

If you already have them, I would carry them on the plane for sure.

We are wearing ours on the plane in 3 days :) :) I dont want to pack them because we usually go to the park before our luggage gets to our resort.

Doubtful # of MagicBands will be left at home will be any higher than # of tickets currently left home. Besides, your tickets will already be linked to MDE and can be accessed with any MagicBand in your name.

Disney specifically says not pack them in your checked luggage because you need them. Why would they be a problem in your carry on?

Except for the $50 per band charge for replacing them.

This. They state right on the Magic Band page to bring them in your carry on...

Your MagicBands will serve as your Disney's Magical Express "tickets" and Disney Resort hotel room "keys." Be sure to pack your MagicBands in a carry-on bag so you'll have them available upon arrival.

Except for the very sensible idea presented below.

DME will not "require" the use of the MagicBands, they can be used there as one of the options.

Thanks so much! I was searching the boards trying to find an answer, and, silly me, I didn't even think to read up on it on the Disney website.

As for being a problem, not so much for me. But DH kept saying they might get fried going through the x-ray machine at security and lose their data. I had to remind him that they do the same thing to the checked luggage!

Thanks again!:)

*mailing*

Mail can get lost or delayed and it is an extra unnecessary added expense. There isn't a good reason not to bring them on the plane with you.

They can not be damaged by the x-ray machine. Your phones, computers and tablets go through there with no problem. This is just a little RFID chip, and an x-ray is not a super magnet. Don't worry about losing data.

They won't get fried going throught the ex-ray machine. I've put RFID cards (I have a RFID annual pass and other cards for work and transportation) through them numerous times and they work fine.
