Pack Beach Towels?

Hi.....we'll be on the Magic double dip a week from today, and I'm wondering if we should pack Beach Towels. I've heard you can take the pool towels ashore if you'd like, but are they big enough to use as a beach towel? We'll essentially have 4 beach days (CC X2, Casta Maya Majuhaul Beach, and Cozumel Paradise Beach.) I'd like to have big towels, but I don't want to spend my cruise washing towels either (and we are a family of 5, and I certainly don't have room to pack 20 beach towels.) What does everyone else do?

We just take a couple towels from the CMs per person & are fine. :)

I found the towels to be just fine that are provided and was glad I hadn't packed or bought the big ones! :thumbsup2

Ditto for the provided towels. I did actually buy a totally cool towel but packed it in my suitcase and kept using theirs. :goodvibes

We didn't bring towels on the DD cruise we went on- and I'm glad we didn't. We didn't do so because of the room it would take for 5+ beach towels- but it worked out fine. :)

The supplied towels aren't that big (large bath towel size) but you can take what you want. Two will cover a lounge chair. I usually took 3 or 4 for myself to have 2 to sit on and 1-2 to dry off with.

Be sure to pick them up as you get off the ship at CC as I believe they aren't available once you get down to the beach area.

I think our first cruise, we drug along beach towels just because we didn't know. I don't think we even used them. On the last 3 cruises, as our repeat cruiser gift, we've gotten a beach towel, and we never even used them on the cruise. The towels on board are fine and if you want something to sit on, you can buy one of those waterproof sheets at a drug store, and then just throw it out at the end of the trip.

one of the souvies I definitely want are DCL beach towels so I plan to get those and will probably use them for excursions. How much are they??

Ummm...not sure how much they are if you buy them on board, but our 3 free ones actually cost us roughly $7,000!!!! :cool1: :goodvibes :rotfl2:

At that price, I sure hope they were made of Supima cotton.

The beach towel was the one souvenir my DH wanted . . . $20! He ended up buying a Castaway Cay one . . . it's really nice. We usually travel with our own beach towels . . . we swim a lot and like our own but decided not to take them on our June 8 cruise . . . glad we didn't. Instead we just took some mesh bags (they are Speedo brand swim bags but they resemble a mesh laundry bag). As we left the ship we each took at least two towels and packed them into our bags. Worked great. We even had some clean ones left over by the end of the day.

All: Thanks for the responses and the mesh bag idea. Not having to drag along beach towels will definitely save me big time space in our luggage, and more importantly, reduced time in the laundry room!

:) I'm getting off cheap. On our 4 day it will only cost us $5100 for our towels.

:scared1: :scared1: :scared1: oops, and a couple pepsi's in there. :drinking1

I guess I'm picky when it comes to towels. I didn't like the towels they provided at CC. I like my towel to cover me (maybe it's a self conscious thing, or maybe I just like the feeling of a big towel covering me). The towels at CC were too small in my opinion! Definetly grab more than one each!

I got a really nice one that has the DCL logo in red and blue and lists the itineraries of both the Eastern and Western 7 days for $20.

I get a lot of compliments on it back at home. :thumbsup2

Hey first time cruisers- don't obsess on how many towels to get on CC. Just grab them and run like heck to get a spot on the overpacked, tight-quarters beach where people take 20 chairs and spread their "stuff" all over them so they don't have to sit near anyone!

Definitely one of the low points of our cruise experience! :furious:

Don't bring your own towels. Grab as many as you can hold when you get off the ship. Then you get to dump off all those heavy, wet, sand-coated towels when you return to the ship.

Oops...let me clarify. I had posted earlier that we got 1 free, repeat cruiser beach towel on 3 of our cruises, so yea, each cruise was a little over $2,000. We'd get so excited over our "Free" beach towel until we thought about what it REALLY cost. It's like we were in Atlantic City last week, and my brother said, "Yep, I had 5 $100 beers." No freebies there either!! :cool1:
