Pacific Storm Maleficent - effect on the parks?

No one has really addressed my question about what Disney does during actual lightning/thunder. I have no issue going when it rains, and I have many times, but never with a storm.

Disneyland shuts down a LOT of rides when it's raining and if there is lightning, forget about it...almost all attractions with an outdoor element will shut down, in addition to the monorail.

We were there in January and it was pouring down rain. A lot of rides were still open, but then the thunder and lightning started and they ended up closing the parks early that day. I was definitely not expecting that!

That actually was the strongest storm Southern California had had in almost 10 years!

Forecast is looking much better for Anaheim this weekend and early next week. I wonder how much rain we will really get after all.

I'm not seeing a big change. Still 70% chance of rain Sunday, with possible thunderstorms and it will be quite windy both Saturday and Sunday. It's really gloomy today.

Yeah, Accuweather says about the same. Rain every day and both Sunday and Monday say thunderstorm.

With lightening and thunder they'll likely close the outdoor rides like Astor orbiter and dumbo. But E inside ones should still be fine.
I love DL in the rain! Ponchos are a zillion times better than umbrellas! Add a baseball cap for under the hood and you're good to go! Like figment suggested, something to wipe off the seats it a good idea too! And if you have them, waterproof hiking shoes for the puddles etc make you much more comfy and warm.

Enjoy! I'm jealous!

That's the storm that is going to hit SoCal this weekend, specifically on Sunday. I'll, of course, be at the parks Saturday-Monday. They're talking about thunderstorms, winds and heavy rain.

At first I was ok with the forecasted rain for this weekend thinking the parks would be emptier, but now I'm starting to wonder just what will be open and running if there are strong showers and thunder/lightning this weekend?

My niece and I were there during a light rain storm. Everything was running in the parks however when we got to the trams we were told those were stopped because of lightning

The day I bought my annual pass this past February it started pouring rain the minute we entered the park and never let up. (The forecast was "occasional showers," yeah right!). We still had a blast, I'll never forget it. The rain made for a challenge but it was fun. Even my 2-year-old wasn't fazed. We bought rain ponchos and they helped a lot! I had dry clothes with me to change my toddler into at the end of the night for the drive home. The Enchanted Tiki Room, It's a Small World, Haunted Mansion were great for escaping the rain. Most of the rides were up and running all day, including Dumbo. And it was seriously pouring. The only one I noticed was down much of the day was Teacups. One nice side effect of the rain was people bailed as the day went on so we didn't have to wait long for rides.

For what it's worth, we have been planning on going to DL this coming Monday and we will probably still go even if it's raining.

Feb 27th? LOL! We were there that day...it was hard but doable.

How was the weather at the park this morning? My friend is there right now (12:30pm) and reports warm, overcast and perfect! I'll be there tomorrow and it's supposed to be warm and sunny.

The baseball game in San Diego at 1:40 was postponed to September. It did rain pretty hard overnight where I am north of LAX. I have no idea what time it passed over Anaheim or if they're expecting more rain there today. The Anaheim forecast shows the chance of rain drops dramatically after 2pm. Then it shows crazy humidity Tues-Fri with the highest chance of rain on Wed. On the plus side, highs are only supposed to be in the mid-70s.

Light sprinkles in the morning and the sun played peek a boo. It just started lightly raining at about 1:30. It is packed at the park today!

The rain only lasted for 30 minutes or so. I thought for sure it may thin out the crowds..nope. It's crazy here today. We are on a break at the hotel, and planned to go to DCA afterwards so I looked at wait times. Even little mermaid is 30 minutes! We got a lot done this morning though, and I'm enjoying the cooler weather.

Glad the weather wasn't too bad but I did see the wait times on the app...yikes. We are headed to the parks tomorrow and looks like sunny and 75 degree, hopefully the crowds will be better.
