We are heading to PA this summer. Planning to go to the liberty bell and also do Hershey. We will be there for 4 days.

Here are my questions?

1. Is there any deals on Hershey 2 day flex passes?
2. Is 2 days long enough to do Hershey with the boardwalk and all the rides. We are going to do the preview as well?
3. Any money savings idea for that area?
4. Anything I shouldn't miss while there?

Thanks for the input guys. I just don't want to go to PA and not do as much as possible as we may never do it again as we live on the west coast.

I have 4 kids ranging in age from 15-5. We already got out accomodations by hershey. I could really use the help from someone in PA or has been there. I want to make the best of our 4 days there.

Thanks!

Lifelong PA resident here. I take most of the stuff you are thinking of doing in this area for granted as I have lived my entire life in this state.

Not sure about any current discounts, but they regularly do offer discounts. Check their website. also, they regularly have coupons for discounts in local McDonalds restaurants as well as run a Pepsi discount (specially marked cans in the area have discounts in the summer months) just for giggles, on their site when it asks for a promo code, put in the word Pepsi and you may get a deal. I have done this before.

2 days in Hersey is sufficient to cover their park (very pretty - not WDW, but far more clean and pleasant surroundings than say a 6 flags) and the new boardwalk area.

Money savings is a tough one. We camp in that area to save on hotels, but that probably isn't an option for you. Try a discount on area hotel chains thru your employer or union (if you belong to one)

if you are doing 2 days in the Philly area (liberty bell) I recommend 1 day in the city (liberty bell and other historical areas, run up the art museum steps like Rocky, there are several other great museums if you are into that stuff, have a cheese steak and a soft pretzel with mustard...) and perhaps one day or part of one day in Valley Forge park. If you are a history buff it is great. Guided and self guided tours. Don’t miss Gen Washington's chapel if you are into historical architecture at all. Tons of detail. Not ideal for the little kids though, they would be bored stiff.

Thanks! Got a campground about 10 miles away. Hopefully it will be easy to get kids up and motivated.

I am waiting to buy tickets for a deal of some kind. The pepsi coupon didn't work but thanks! I only can find deals on one day and it is better to do two for someone who hasn't been to Hershey I think.

Please pm me with anything else you can think of in that area.

What about the pretzel?

Hershey resident here and season pass holder to the park. When you get here, go buy your tickets at the local Giant grocery store. There is one about 5 minutes away on Rt. 39. Buy the 2 day Flex ticket. The gate price is $69.50 and Giant sells them for about $65.00. The night before you want to start your first day, go to the gate at 7:30pm and show them your tickets. You will be able to get in for the remainder of the evening for free.

I definetly think you will need 2 full days to enjoy the park. Concentrate on the boardwalk area for 1 full day and then do the rides for the next full day.

Also, take a break from the park for a few hours and walk over to the Hershey Story on Chocolate Ave. It just opened a few months ago and is very interesting and wonderful. My DD6 really enjoys the chocolate lab and I love the chocolate tasting at Cafe Zooka.

We saw this last summer when it was still being built. we will be checking it out this summer when we go to Hershey :thumbsup2

I love Hershey Park! You're going to have a wonderful time:goodvibes

We go all the time and the only comments I can make are, just like at WDW, bring your own waters... they are ridiculously over priced. Also, the food in the park is pretty bad and expensive IMO.... and the restaurants in the area are just horrible. When we go we do breakfast before we leave, hotdogs and fries for lunch and I stick to the chain restaurants in the area for dinner... believe me this comes from some very memorable and expensive mistakes. PA is not a dining extravaganza... it has lots and lots of good points but food is not one of them IMHO- but then again I am from NYC so my standards might be high.

I have to disagree with what I bolded above. There are many resturants in Hershey that are wonderful. Over on Chocolate Ave alone there are 2 places that are very good. Fenicci's for Italian and the Chocolate Ave Grill for American. Also a Devon's Seafood Grill just opened -it is divine and the interior and atmosphere is incredible. It is right beside The Hershey Story. The Hershey Pantry is great for breakfast and What If cafe is fabulous for dinner. Also, Fire Alley is superb!
