P90x

Hey all..

I just jumped on here (on my husband's account) he is ususally our Planner for all trips and Disney related "things" ..I worked for Disney for nearly 15 yrs...so I am thrilled to just be a GUEST now!!!:cool2:

My husband and I began the P90X journey on the 4th of January (2010)..and completed day 59 today with our 60 day measurements and pictures planned for tomorrow.

We were both big athletes from childhood to our early 30's...but, then the marriage, then the kids...and well you get the rest!:surfweb:

So we said enough was enough...and we said go hard or go home..So we went for P90X.

At nearly the 60 day mark, I personally have lost 11 pounds and 15 inches of my body. I began this journey at 5'6" and weighing 141 lbs. So it wasn't for MAJOR weight-loss....but more more toning and increased energy. (and to attempt to find my Pre-baby Body...at 40 yrs of age:eek:)

And when I say I am melting...I am sincere. I didn't know I could lose 4 inches off my hips?? I thought 37" hips were my life's plan. And my Small waist is down to a 27 and my naval waist is down to a 29. And I have found my Size 4 jeans again!!

My husband? Well I use to hug him and be able to interlock my fingers...now I can almost grab my elbows!!!!!!

I was jumping on DisBoards today, becasue we have planned an IMPROMPTU trip to WDW in three weeks. As Vacation CLub owners....we were thrilled to find accomodations and what we wanted at such a short notice.....AND found $48 (each way) flights out of Allentown, PA...YEAH!!!!:yay:

But, it will be day 80-88 of P90X (so 3 days of Week 11) and then all of the LAST recovery week.

I want to hit the gym on those 3 days of week 11....and I am working hard to figure out how to get the DVD's downloaded from the DVD's to my itouch.
So I can even do Yoga out on the lawn,....LOL.

Has anyone gone..Mobile with their DVD's for this exact purpose..or one there like?

Anywasy...we are thrilled with the results. We are thrilled with the upcoming trip (that our 7 and 5 yr olds know nothing about)...and I am THRILLED to pack my bikinis!!!!

Did I mention how much we love P90X?????:lovestruc

We went hard core on this. I have very bad arthistis in my hands and feet the pull up bar is out of the question for now. I use the bands which work but not to the degree the pull up bar would. The different workout are great!

The diet is a very large component of this program that I have not read anyone comment on. My wife and I are doing the lean version and the focus in phase 1 is the elimation of carbs. In fact I am only allowed 1 portion a day (ie. a cup of soba noodles, a pita). They call it fat shredding. To follow the food is as big a challenge as the workouts are. The one recipe I love is the Beef Broccoli stir fry.
I have to say I feel different already and have the focus to complete this program to the end.

I think we all have simliar stories I was an avid gym guy but work, home, 3 kids, and late nights I went from 180 lbs to 236lbs. Enough is enough I want to be able to run with my kids and not get tired in 30 seconds. I want to be able to walk through disney with out pain and be happy to be in the pictures.

I hope the thread stays alive. I will continusly fupdate my progress.

By the way anyone commiting to buy the p90x READ the material. Take an extra week to get ready buy the equipment and understand what you are doing.

P.S My nephew completed this last year he went from 27% body fat to 8% and has the beachbody.

Good luck everyone!

Hi. I am still dong the double P90X. This week was the second week of the double workouts. It hasn't been too bad, Monday, Wednesday and Friday I get up at 4am to do the cardio workout and do the other one after I get out of work. In two more weeks I start Phase 3 which will be doing the early workout 4 days a week.

My clothes are fitting a little better, not much of a weight loss. I definitely can notice that I have more muscle in my legs and am starting to have a little bit of a bicep. Still having to do pushups on my knees and I put in a pullup bar the other day, I was using the bands up until now. Actually using the bar is alot different than using the bands.

I admit, I have not been following the diet. My weight loss since January 2009 is now up to almost 70 pounds so I am kinda burned out of the strict diet thing. But P90X is definitely doing something.

I love it, the Kenpo is my favorite, i could do that every day. I wish I started this earlier.

I converted all my X dvds over to an mp4 format, so I also have them all on my laptop (and could also put them on an ipod/zune/mp3 player that can handle video playback).... so if I'm traveling and don't want to miss a workout, I've got 'em all with me..... used a program from cucusoft to handle the conversion

Thanks for this update. I have wondered about you and how the double is working out. I do not think I could do that. WAY TO GO! :thumbsup2
Kenpo is my favorite, too. If you get a chance to get the Kenpo Plus, do it. It is even better than Kenpo. It is a bit shorter, but my heart rate gets up even higher than with the regular Kenpo. I alternate the two videos on my Kenpo days.

I would love to do that! I will have to check into that program.

hello all,

Day 20 and entering my rest week. Doing Kenpo tonight... Our 7 yr daughter joins us Sunday mornings for Stretch X. I love it after a hard weeks workout.

I will be taking photos on day 30 and measurements inlcuding weight but I understand that this is a 90 day program so weight lose in the first 30 days is a bonus.

Everyone else keep going strong...

Hi everyone! I admire all of you - this is a TOUGH workout! DH is doing it, not me - I think I'd be dead!

DH just finished day 3, arms and shoulders I think. He is so sore he was waking up last night! Tonight is his first yoga. Any suggestions on what he do to help reduce the muscle pain? Besides time, of course. ;)

Thanks!

I am sure he would love a good massage from you. ;) I know that I would have loved it if DH would massage me on my sore days. He does sometimes, though. I never got as sore on yoga days as other days. If he is on day three, he should have already made it through the plyo day. IMO that is the worst day so the yoga should be easier than that as far as soreness goes.

Well, I went to the doctor last week for my annual well exam. I just got all of my lab results back yesterday. My doctor was so happy with these results! She told me that whatever I am doing I need to keep it up! She said that my total cholesterol is at 172. My LDL (bad cholesterol) was 67. They want you to be below 130. My HDL (good cholesterol) was 89. Optimal level is 60. The higher the level the better! So that encourages me even more to keep "bringing it!" I did the arms workout this morning.

I think I can give him a massage tonight ;) Yes he's done plyo - today is his 4th day. He said plyo was tough - but I think it all has been! He's done chest and back and ab ripper, next day plyo, next day arms and shoulders and ab ripper. He's determined not to take a day off even though he's so sore...he said he can't start that mindset.

Big congrats on you cholesterol - that is awesome!!:cheer2:

I just wanted to add that I really like the stretching part (second part) of the yoga day. To me, it honestly feels great! I enjoy some of the first part, but I think the stretching part is wonderful! You DH might like the stretching for his achy muscles. I do.
To be honest, I pull out the stretch video and do it on many of my off days. Many of the yoga stretch moves are on that stretch video.

I'm on the last week of Phase 2, and i've lost 13 lbs! Here's hoping a few more decide to leave in the last phase :)

Both DH and I take Ibuprofen to help with the extreme muscle soreness. It really helps.

Oh, and don't forget recovery shakes or drinks. We use ON 2:1:1 Recovery. Sometimes I might have a Pepsi or chocolate milk.

Hot baths after workout help too...at least they feel REALLY good.

Man, I really admire all of you for doing this. How on earth do you fit in a 90 minute workout everyday?

It's only reallyabotu an hour depending on the workout.

The longest workout is Yoga X, coming in at 90 minutes. Ab Ripper X (which acts as an add on to the resistance workouts) is approximately 15 minutes. Cardio X is 45 minutes. All the other workouts (Legs and Back, Core Synergistics, Kenpo X, etc.) are abotu an hour long each. So really, it's more of 45-90 minutes.

Personally, I can't stand the boringness of the Yoga video, so I substitute another day of Core Synergistics in my plan. So the longest workout I do is about 75 minutes, when it's something combined with Ab Ripper.

I just ordered p90 - dh is doing the p90x and it scares me!:scared1: I'm excited to start it!
