is it best to try to do P.S. by phoning from home or doing it when we get there we go October 23rd.We are staying at ASM have DDaged 7 and DS aged 4 where do u suggest would be the best restaurants for them.thanks in advance

You may be fine booking PSs when you arrive - depending on when and which restaraunt you want to go to. Some restaurants, especially the character meal ones are very popular.

All the WDW restaurants (with the exception of the really posh ones :) ), are very child friendly. They all have childrens menus.
The buffet style ones are generally good value and you kids are sure to find something they like on the buffet :)

Check out the restaurant menus here:

It depends if you have your heart set on somewhere specific. If so, I'd book by phone. We're on NTL and the call to make a PS is not really that dear, especially if you call later in the day when the hoards aren't trying to get CRT or PSB. Don't forget to factor in half term as well, wwhen we were there last year it was busier than I expected, especially the closer to halloween you got

I'd do a bit of both - book from home any meals you'd be really disappointed not to get, but wait until you are there to decide if there are any others you'd like to book. There are counter-service meals and food courts all around WDW, so don't think that you'll starve if you don't have lots of PSs! ;)

If you make a PS now, but your plans change once you are there (or you see somewhere you prefer the look of), you can always change your PS, but make sure you cancel the original one.

I agree that the buffets are especially good for children, and they're sure to want to have a character meal sometime. Chef Mickey's character breakfast (in the Contemporary Resort) usually gets good reviews, as do the buffets in Hollywood and Vine in MGM Studios and Crystal Palace in Magic Kingdom.

Depending on which type of WDW admission you have, don't forget that you can have a Disney meal at any of the WDW resort hotels without needing park admission. This is sometimes a good way of getting your Disney fix for the day without using up a park day on your ticket :)

Obviously the really popular meals would need to be booked in advance, as soon as you hit the 90 day mark. The ONLY character meal we have EVER booked way ahead was for Christmas Day lunch at LTT. All others we've called on the day or at most the day before, and these were all at busy periods. Mind you, we're not fussy about times etc.

We always make our PS's in advance. Last October whilst in WDW, we tried to get a PS for Donalds Breakfastaurus for a couple of day's later and couldn't:(

I would definitely see if there were any I really wanted to do and book those ones up before going. We were there last Oct as well and the couple of times we tried to book we couldn’t get what we wanted which would have been very disappointing if we had decided we wanted to eat at those places before we went.

Character meals we’ve tried and really enjoyed:
Chef Mickey’s is fantastic for kids, we had dinner there but breakfast is meant to be great too.
Crystal Palace is one of our favourites for breakfast.
We also enjoyed Breakfastaurus with Donald Duck

Non-character meals we’ve tried and really enjoyed:
Hollywood & Vine is a great buffet
O’hana’s were we were lucky enough to watch Wishes
Whispering Canyon Café
