Rita, while I did not see that particular show, I have heard similar sentiments expressed.
Cheryl, you and Sarah are making a good decision to continue on with your lives - I can bet that Bob's father would have felt that way tool Life does go on, although our hearts do ache, but your mil may not show it to everyone else. She will deal with it in her own way/time.
What a great opportunity for Sarah to get a 4 yr tuition!! Bet on the ride there, you'll have plenty of time to chat and reminise.

My grandfather died when I was 21, and my dsis was 17. It was very hard, and DSis found some school teachers very unsympathetic. I still miss him, and wish my boys had known him as he would have had so much fun with them - they are hard up for senior males as both my father and FIL passed early - FIL when I was expecting DS(18) and my dad when DS was 3 months
